They Put Oat Protein In Kiss My Face Lotion!

I went to buy my usual Kiss My Face lotion today (I get the unscented kind for extra sensitive skin), and I noticed that the packaging had changed. Knowing that that's a red flag for changes to the formulation, I decided to read the ingredients. THEY ADDED OAT PROTEIN!!!!! There was still one old bottle there, so I compared the two, and sure enough, the oat protein is new. I'm so mad I could spit nails; I looked high and low for a lotion I liked, finally fell in love with this one, and now they go and put gluten in it!!!!

As soon as I calm down enough to be civil, I'm going to send them a letter and ask them to please change it back. I know there are other people here who use it, because this is where I first heard about it. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you use this product, call or write to them and let them know what a bad move this is. Their contact info is available at Open Original Shared Link.

Well, I sent them an email, and I actually got a fairly nice - and knowledgeable! - reply back. Here's what they said:

Hi Jeanne- Thanks for taking the time to write. You are right; we did change

the formula of our moisturizer to remove the parabens. Sorry that the new

formula is not suitable for you. I sympathize; I know celiac is a tough

disease. I will definitely pass your feedback along to our product

development team. We love hearing from our customers and absolutely do

consider your input when developing new products or when tweaking our

current line. I have attached our gluten free list. Please be aware that

these products are processed in facilities that also manufacture other

products so we can not guarantee against cross contamination. Please let me

know if I can be of further help. Have a good day.

Well, good luck!

Thanks - I really appreciate the support! I actually thought her response was very nice, and maybe they will take customer feedback into account eventually. I was also glad to see that there are still some gluten-free varieties, so I'll have to try them and see if I like any of them. It's just so frustrating when they go and put gluten into a perfectly good product, but I guess we all have this experience now and then. Never stop reading labels, right?

I acutally work in the skincare retail business so I know how important the impact of customer feedback can be-positive or negative. I have fell in love with skincare over the last year and a half and have been doing a lot of thinking about starting a designated "gluten free" (plus some other common intolerences) line...no risks of CC and very effective...to my knowledge there is no one out there doing this so we certainly need it!! Well...let me know what you htink. I graduate college in 2 years so I have some time to think this over...

Best,

Staci

Hi Jeanne,

I will drop them an email, too. I know how hard it is to find a good lotion--and then to have the formula changed on you-- not fair!

I did think that was a very good response from the company--one of the best I've seen, actually. I hope they will reconsider the change, or at least maybe one of the other moisturizers will work for you :)

Sometimes we can't win for losing :D

Sounds like you are in the UK. With blood numbers that high, I thought docs in UK would give an official diagnosis without the biopsy. You should ask about that, so you can get support faster.  I'd try to find and print out anything that supports that in your country, get another appointment and take all of it with you. Even in the US now, some docs are doing this, my 19 year old step granddaughter got an official diagnosis here in US with just blood results a few months ago.

Is soy sauce in Korea also made from wheat like it usually is in US? I'd be concerned that even if asking about gluten, they would not be aware of or think of some like that.

That's a good idea. It can at least establish the potential for developing celiac disease and can help people decided between a celiac diagnosis and NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). And it doesn't require a gluten challenge and can be had without a doctor's prescription.

I have my endoscopy on Thursday, has anyone had the procedure done with a cough? I don't have a continuous cough, but every now and then throughout the day I have sort of coughing episodes. They are a lot better than they were but I called endoscopy and they said to speak to my gp and my gp got back to me and said I need to ask endoscopy if its ok if I have it done still.  Help!

Thank you so much, everyone. For the moment my doctor just has me taking iron but hopefully we can reconnect soon. I'm going to look into genetic testing, too. Great advice all around and I appreciate it--and you can bet I'm going off the PPIs!
