Hi,
I’m now at the worlds largest food show in Tokyo.
Eight football field sized exhibition halls filled with
foods from almost every country.
Didn't see everything on the first day of the show but did, by accident, find two great companies producing gluten-free foods and trying to get into the US market.
Some of the products are in Europe, US, Asia and Canada through third party vendors.
The companies are
#1 Lhian Thai Rice Vermicelli Co LTD
Thailand
www.lhianthai.com
Dr. Danaya Thongsima, export manager
They are producing 32 different gluten-free mixes from donuts to green tea cookies.
I’ll try to get some pictures of the products uploaded in a few days.
I sampled the mocca cake made in a microwavable cup.
I was shocked at how good it was.
#2 Bio Alimenta
Abruzzo Italy
Antonio Rotunno
Director of Operations.
www.biolimentasrl.it
They make a hugh number of pastas all gluten-free using mixes with corn, rice and potato.
Talked to him for an hour and even got an invitation to visit the factory next July when I’m in Italy.
I’ll be looking for more gluten-free products over the next few days and just hope I can find someone to import them into the US so I can buy them.

Another great find at the food show in Japan
Casabe gourmet company from Venezuela!
They make a wide variety of gluten-free crackers, flour and tempura batter mix!
Its all based on the cassava (Manihot esculenta) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassava
I've tried all the different gluten-free crackers at health food stores in hawaii and these are far better.
Valentina Espinosa is the company president and said she would send me a list of where they are available as there are a few places in North America that have them.

Hey Ken
How lucky can you get!!!! I've been trying to get this Italian Co. to the US so we can buy !!!! I am in great need of a box of acini di pepe gluten free for my famous wedding soup!!!!!I haven't had it in five years!!!!! Of course if one was able to get these products in the US I'd buy like crazy..... I hear they are the "real deal" so to speak.
Did you try any yet?
There is another company from Italy that has wonderful crackers but I can't get them here either........
You are so lucky!!!!

They gave me some to bring home but i've not had a chance to try things yet.
may try to cook something up at my friends although i worry about the cc from their kitchen. I will have lots of pictures to upload once I have time.
I know these companies would love to get into the growing US market and just hope we can all find a way to make it happen!
take care
