Hi everyone.

Does anyone know if Fage Greek yogurt is okay? (plain- says just pasteurized milk and probiotics) I just tasted 3 tables recklessly and, oh my word, is it good! I hope it's okay. Any info is much appreciated. Or if you know a safe plain brand that doesn't have pectin in it which all the U.S. yogurts seem to now. (When did they start doing that?!)

Thank you everyone and thank you those of you who gave me "flu" advice- that was a hideous bug, that was... today is my first day without a high fever in a week. Now taking Zithromax because it left me with sinus infection and want to replace the good bacteria- hence, looking for a safe yogurt...

Yep, Fage's fine. I love it too :) Even if you get the fat free it's sooo creamy. Try it with a spoonful of honey and some fruit, or preserves. mmmm :P
Gluten Free since 10/07
Mildly Lactose Intolerant, slight intestinal symptoms after eating milk products, but easily corrected with lactase enzyme
Endometriosis- DX'd 5/07

Gluten Antibodies- "negative"...don't know exact numbers, am highly suspicious...
DXed celiac 12-19-07 via genetics/elimination diet- DQ2 allele

Brother with Celiac, aspergers...his tests were all negative (he didn't have genetics done), including endoscopy, but he definitely is at the least gluten intolerant...highly suspect my mother has it as well- she has hyperthyroid, fibromyalgia, hemochromatosis, and now colon cancer, and she has been weak and exhausted and just generally sick. She's going to get tested.

If you read the ingredients and they didn't list wheat, barley, or rye, I don't see how that could be considered reckless. What's wrong with pectin?

I love it too!!! Especially with some blueberries or other berries... kind of like berries and cream. YUM!! :D
And with honey it is unreal... almost sinful! Enjoy!!!

Thank you, everyone. Yes, SINFUL! Wicked! What a delight!

Pectin just has always bothered me and they didn't used to put it in yogurt. Plain, anyway. I know it naturally occurs in fruits but somehow when it's added it gives me a funky feeling in my mouth.

Have a good day everyone!

Hi there!

ΦΑΓΕ (fage)is ok at least for me....and me I am lactose intolerant but when I was eating it I never had a gluten or a lactose problem.....Fage has the BEST yoghurt...I used to eat it with melt chocolate (merenda or nutella is the thrademark here) or with huge spoons of sugar.....Do try that chocolate thing....You can also eat your rice with yoghurt (really tasty) or make tzatziki.

kisses from ΦΑΓΕ- land!!

Thank you, Meline,

I am half Greek. My family is from Kalamata and Constantine in the Peloponnesses. I have not been to Greece since 1980 but hope to go back one day again. My Mom is French so it's quite a combo!
