I've been mulling this over in my head for awhile but am sort of in denial because i really don't have the energy for this diet, when i'm already gluten-free in a house with 4 people who aren't. And I work at Panera bread.. right?

But i've had Vaginosis or whatever the vaginal bacterial infection is--and i did a round of amoxicilan and nothing changed, except yeast growth of course--which i knew because my reflux was back. before Amox, i was on an anti-fungal for 4 weeks, but i don't think it had an impact because of the infection.

I don't know if candida has ties to this type of infection. I don't have oral thrush or stomach problems--other than being a bit constipated, which could be related to anti-depressants i take.

My nutritionist Dr's say being around gluten all day at Panera CANT be good for me. which is an obvious deduction, but i'm pretty sure the crumbs aren't jumping in my hooha.

My finances are pretty low right now so i'm not looking for another round of drs but i do need some relief. I've got GSE and i'm buying more probiotics later today. I try hard not to eat starchy things but on the go it's hard. i'm sick of eggs. :)

PLEASE ADVISE!!!

Sorry to have to say this but the only sure fire way to control Candida/bacterial overgrowth is to stop giving it the foods it needs to survive, namely carbs and sugar.

It is evil insidious stuff if allowed to get out of hand and we have that ultimate control. If you don't get a handle on it it will only get worse.

I know it is difficult, but the outcome is worth it. You may not be eating gluten, but if you are compensating with lots of other carbs and sugar you are just compounding the problem.

Sorry I can't be more helpful - there is no shortcut. Drugs will not work long-term because the bacteria becomes resistant.

Ali is right. One must change the way they eat. Don't feed the fungus. It is basically 3 things.

1) starve the fungus

2) kill it off

3) move the toxins out of the body

If after a time, this does not seem to work then you may have heavy metals depressing your immune system and you will have to detox from those too while keeping the fungus under control with diet and antifungals.

The good news is that most refined flours will feed the fungus and you have already given up the wheat, barley, and rye.

I've already lost like 20 lbs going off gluten. I only weigh about a hundred. I am afraid i will starve to death if i have to give up more things! I try not to eat starchy things (i never eat gluten--least not intentionally) and i've cut out basically all sugars. but my problem hasn't changed no matter what i do. I know i'm not going to take anymore antibiotics, no matter what the doctors say. but what i DONT know, is that candida is what is causing the vaginosis. When i get Pap's done, they're always negative for yeast, positive for bacteria. This doesn't make sense to me, maybe i'm not understanding something?

As long as you eat enough protein and fats and the veg and fruits you won't lose weight. The body balances itself out as long as it has enough food. If weight was dependent on carbohydrate and starches, all Eskimos who only eat mainly fish and meat, would be like Belsen Camp inmates!

Of course you might lose a lb or two initially as you change your diet, but that will go back on as your body settles into its new routine. Eventually, after you have got the bacteria under control, you may find that you can tolerate a little carbohydrate occasionally. The worst thing would be to go back to eating a high-carb, high-sugar diet, as you would end up back where you started.

All these bacteria, whether yeast/fungus or not feast on carbs and they like an acid environment. If we keep our bodies slightly alkaline and cut the carbs, the body should then be able to rebalance itself.

They may have said that the bacteria is not a yeast - did they tell you what bacteria it actually is? Our bodies are breeding grounds for all sorts of parasitic opportunist bacteria - but only if we let it take that opportunity.

Since I have gone on this no gluten thing I have found that I have to eat more! I don't eat meat and no free fats so it is tough and very limited. So, I have decided to eat more quantity of quality food.

For example, I used to only have 1/3 c. whole grain no gluten oats in 1 cup of water. I have doubled that now and add coriander, cinnamon, nutmeg and fresh/frozen blueberries. That's breakfast and it stays with me until early dinner hour.

Some people enjoy a brown rice breakfast with cinn. nutmeg and coriander in a creamy soy milk or coconut milk. I have not tried that yet but it does sound good. Eat a double portion.

Eat more but make sure it is the "good" stuff. :)

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

      My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!
