Is Tazo China Green Tips Tea gluten-free? I just had some and I'm not feeling very well, but I don't know if that's the reason.

What about Celestial Seasonings Green Tea?

I called Tazo teas a little while ago to ask about their status. They said that there were only 5 of their teas that did not contain natural seasonings and thus could guarantee were gluten-free. I don't honestly remember if that was one or not. I remember Awake and Refresh. I called though at a random time and got through to someone knowledgeable pretty easily. I would call and double check on that one.

I'm not sure about the Celestial Seasoning tea specifically. There are a couple of theirs that are not, Cinnamon spice and something with blueberry.

I was drinking Refresh and I have hives, which went away when I stopped -- I was very confused by this and thought it might be the tarragon, although I have no history of being allergic to tarragon; I couldn't figure out what was causing the hives. If Refresh contains gluten, perhaps you cleared up the mystery. Do you know of anyone else who gets hives when they ingest small amounts of gluten? I'm hesitant to use Beano for this reason. Do you happen to know if it's a large amount of gluten in Refresh? It never occurred to me that there could be gluten in tea.

According to the SUCKY flash-induced website for Tazo tea, all their teas are gluten free EXCEPT Green Ginger, Honeybush, Lemon Ginger and Tea Lemonade.

Given that there's gluten in the ginger green, I wonder if their China Green Tips is entirely trustworthy. I can't figure out why they would add gluten in the first place. What purpose does it serve?

I just got sick from it too, I actually found this posting by searching 'is green tips gluten free' on google. I bet they put barley in it for flavor. I have seen this with teas at the health food store and also coffees. I think it gives it that roasted/toasty flavor.

bigelo green tee is safe, as is celestial seasonings green tea. lipton green tea is ok, just smells like spinach though. the fewer ingredients the better.
