Flourless Choclate Cake

This chocolate cake recipe is the best and you can get everything at a "regular" grocery store

8oz. of semi-sweet or bitter-sweet baking chocolate

2/3 cup of crushed almonds

1 stick of butter

5 eggs, seperated

2/3 cup of sugar

1. Seperate the eggs, put the whites in a med. bowl and the yolks in a large bowl.

2. Beat the egg whites till stiff peaks form. Combine sugar and yolks; using same beaters, beat till creamy and pale yellow, about 5 minutes. Set aside.

3. Melt butter and chocolate in the top of a double boiler* stirring constantly till both are combined and melted; take off heat and add almonds.

4. Temper** the yolk mixture with the chocolate mixture, then fully combine. Folk in egg whites.

5. Pour mixture into a greased spring-form pan. Bake in a 350F degree oven for 20 minutes, or until middle springs back when you touch it.

6. Let cool for a few minutes, then remove sides of the spring-form pan. Enjoy!

*I don't have a double boiler at home. I use a sauce pan over low heat or I get my boiler and put a little water in it, then I get my small boiler(I think it will hold 1/2 a gal.??) and melt the choc. and butter in it.

**You take a little bit of the choc. mixture and add it to the yolk mixture, stirring it in. You do this with about 2/3 of the choc mixture. The reason you do this is so you won't cook the eggs. Scrambled eggs and cake don't go goood together

PS. My mom got this recipe from a magizine, but I don't remeber which one.

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!

I think sometimes the pain described here can be a result of a sort of 'perfect storm' of contributing factors.  Recently I had an appalling bout of lower back pain, lower burning gut pain and what felt like cramps.  I then started to think about what could have caused it and I realised it was several things that had set it off: I'd been carrying heavy luggage (back strain); I had been sitting down in a car for too long and wearing a tight belt (I have pudendal nerve issues and sacroiliac issues and this exacerbates the pain), and I had bloating and burning pain in my colon caused by eating too much soy, latte and caffeine, I guess putting further pressure in the lower abdomen.  I had this same pain prior to my diagnosis and a couple of years post-diagnosis, I'd quite forgotten how unpleasant it was.

HI @Kirbyqueen That's great news your insurance will be kicking in soon.  Sorry to see that you have been dealing with this for six months now, but I do hope you have managed to find some relief with some of the suggestions in the meantime. Perhaps come back and let us know what the doctor says. Cristiana

I agree, and hopefully your doctor will contact you soon about the next step, which will likely be an endoscopy to confirm your diagnosis. Do you have celiac disease symptoms?
