The replies from RUSK and Lancome have come in, as well as a statement from Physician's formula.
Physician's formula is a BUST-- they "cannot guarantee the source of their ingredients." I threw their products away.

I notice they list maltodextrin here. So does this mean that the maltodextrin used in cosmetics may be wheat derived and not say so? Why would it be any different than the maltodextrin in food?
RUSK did the same thing, but they were vague. Here is their reply:
Thank you for your Rusk inquiry.
There is hydrolyzed wheat protein or hydrolyzed starch in some of our
products.
Some of the products in our line contain gluten and some are gluten-free.
Most of the cleansers contain some sodium lauryl sulfate.
The ingredients are listed on each product container for your review.
Thank you for using Rusk!
Regards,
RUSK!

Does anyone know why they are listing the sodium lauryl sulfate? Also, like the malto dextrin above, I notice they list hydrolyzed starch and do not specify if it is wheat derived.
