We just checked with Proctor & Gamble, and the customer service rep said that the company does not have information on whether many of the sourced materials for a lot of P&G's non-food products are gluten-free (gluten-free). So, we are going to stop using Dawn for now.

This is despite the fact that the Soaps, Cosmetics, Personal Care Items, etc." page under the "Free Info Lists" page (Open Original Shared Link) at the Clan Thompson's Celiac Site says the following:

"Dawn Dishwashing Detergent: Manufactured by Procter & Gamble. Gluten free: Yes. Vegetarian: Yes. Verified: 10/10/07" How can Thompson say that it is gluten-free when Proctor & Gamble is not willing to commit to that?

If anybody has any information on gluten-free dish soaps ( or any kind of soap for that matter), please provide the source of your information. We all should be looking for attribution to the product manufacturer or very credible, preferably highly reputable not-for-profit, scientific/medical, or government agency, sources. My family is doing it because we have found that a variety of products people claim to be gluten-free are not gluten-free. That has impacted a member of my family to the extent that she has had four transfusions in the last six months because of villi damage-induced anemia.

Thanks, John

I use Dawn for everything...dishes...bath and body...hair..laundry....I love the stuff. Stain remover too.

Um...if he is allegic to it...I don't think it is gluten...it would have gotten me.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
