Oh No! New Envirokidz Cereal Not gluten-free!

There is a new (I think it's new anyway) envirokidz cereal called penguin crunch or puffs or something like that. I was at whole foods today picking out a new cereal (always arduous) and this looked good, so I decided ot give it a try. I didn't notice the gluten-free label usually on those cereals, but I didn't sweat it, b/c a quick scan of the ingredients looked good. I was thisclose to trying a handful when something made me give the label a second read. Corn, Quinoa...sounds good...Kamut...wait a minute...isn't that on the no-no list?!?! Because it's not a grain you encounter often, you might forget...but Kamut contains gluten! I'm soooo glad I scanned that label again! Oh well, my PB panda puffs are still yummy :)

1 of the new ones is gluten-free, I think it's "lemur" something. It's basically PB puffs and cocoa puffs together. Haven't tried it cuz it hasn't gone on sale yet ;)

Whole foods just FINALLY opened up, just 5 miles from my house . . the first one in Richmond, VA . . ugg . .anyways, I saw they had more than twice as many envirokids cereals as my grocery store and smaller hfs - but also noticed that one of them didnt say gluten-free on it. I thought it was pretty lame that WF had that one righ in the center of the display and all the others were gluten-free and that one wasnt. I also believe the potato flour is 30 cents cheaper at my grocery store . . . geesh. Still, NO one carries the super-fine brown rice flour that Annalise Roberts recomends . . .

That really stinks! I was looking forward to trying those! I love the Leapin Lemur cereal...it was on sale at Giant Eagle here last week. I was going to buy some at WF the other day b/c DS and I both eat it, but it was $4.99 (OUCH!). Stinks b/c all the other Envirokidz stuff was on sale but that one! Stinkers!

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
