I know this is a probably a pretty common topic, but I have been gluten free for just under a week and have seen some pretty weird side effects. Anyone else experience stange bodily stuff (i'll be pretty general)? What is normal when going through this process?

Most of us are pretty okay with the TMI stuff on this board...you can always post a TMI warning on your thread, LOL!

Yes, lots of transitional weird stuff can be seen.

I had an equal amount of mental | emotional side effects too, with the withdrawls. B)

It's a wild ride right after you get off the gluten... hang in there Sweetie!

I have first - serious constipation, followed by the runs. I get a rash and what's weird for me is I get what seems like canker sores on my tongue and the inside of my bottom lip that is gone within one day. Geez.

yeah, my appetite is virtually gone, though my stomach growls ALL the time, even if I had eaten an hour before. I go to the bthroom quite frequently, to the point where I can't predict it. It used to be after eating, now it can creep up on me at anytime. My stomach also is constantly making noises, from hunger growls to gurgling. After I eat, I feel even worse, to the point where I avoid eating (thought that doesn't make me feel better) BM's are quite liquidy too. Don't even get me started on yawning.

It doesn't help that I am a teacher either...

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
