Halloween Candy

Hi All! Walmart just set up an entire aisle of Halloween candy and I wanted to see if anyone had up to date information on what's safe for us. I know Hershey and M&M/Mars haven't been as helpful as in the past but if anyone's called any of the companies lately or if you've had a reaction to a certain candy, I'd love to hear about it. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there right now. Thanks and happy early Halloween!!

You can be on the look out for the R.O.C.K candy list. They issue a current candy list around halloween time.

Here is a 2007 Listing:

I would also keep an eye out for the list, but in the U.S., if it doesn't list wheat or malt, it's almost certainly gluten-free. It definitely won't have hidden rye.

None of that is any guarantee about possible CC.

The last time I contacted Mars they said that they disclose all gluten in their ingredients. I think that's the best response to get from a company. Has it changed? I call all the mainstream candy companies each year. (I'll post my results when I get around to it. Most likely mid next week.) I do appreciate the ROCK list, but I find it to be incomplete and sometimes the information is a year or two old if I remember correctly. Anyway, I like to get information directly from the companies. I'm annal in that way. :P

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
