Hello
I can help you some........ although there is not a lot of restaurants in Nanaimo that are very gluten free. To date I have tried Montana's where they actually have a gluten free menu, and the staff seems somewhat knowlegable. Moxies also has a gluten free menu but the staff is not as aware of cross contamination, watch out for their nachos, they are cooked in the same oil as stuff on the regular menu.
Swiss Chalet has an allergy guide and they have some gluten free options, but again be careful of cross contamination and be sure to tell the staff to make note.
I have not yet had any other experiences, I usually tend not to try new places unless they are familiar with the disease, because most do not understand cc.
I heard of one down at the waterfront by the seaplanes that has gluten free pastas but I have never tried it, I forget the name of it though.
If she ever goes to Victoria there seems to be a much better selection there.
Good Luck.
