My son REALLY needs to gain weight. We need a protein powder that is gluten-free/DF and not soy-based (it's ok if it has a little but not too much, as soy isn't good for males in puberty).
I don't want to spend a lot of money on one that tastes yucky.
Rice powder, hemp powder? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I use both rice protein powder and hemp protein powder, depending on what I'm using them in.

Yeah, I'd say use Rice Protein because it's hypoallergenic. It's smart that you're not using Soy Protein because soy is very high in estrogen which is neither good for males or females for that matter. I've read that the human body cannot digest more than 20g of protein in one settini/serving. Makes sense to me so why not just have him eat Grass Fed Beef or Fish? Plenty of protein there that is healthier than isolating it from food sources.
Unofficially diagnosed in May 2005. I have been Gluten Free since and healed my adrenal glands/immune system on two separate occasions.

Do you have a brand that you like? That's what I'm trying to find out...

Right, I haven't let him have any soy since he went diary free (except a little in margarine for baking) because it's so bad for developing males.
He eats well, he's just not getting enough calories to gain weight. This is not to replace beef or other good protein, but as a supplement. Since he doesn't get any milk, he can't have a quick glass at breakfast, so I want to make him a smoothie.
Do you know of a Rice Protein that tastes good? I just don't want to buy a $20 carton and not be able to use it because of the taste.
Thanks in advance.
