I have been on Amitiza for a few months now. It really is helping me but I have also become very anxious and depressed at times. I am not sure if this is directly from the medication as there are several other tirgger factors present in my life right now. I was just wondering if anyone saw a dramatic change in their over all well being once going on Amitiza.

I just Googled it, and it seems there is a link between Amitiza and anxiety.

Incidentally, have you tried magnesium citrate instead?

As for the anxiety, if you can't avoid the drugs, then I'd highly recommend a sublingual methylcobalamin (vitamin B12). Take at least 5mg per day, but since it has no known level of overdose, you may take all you want. Magnesium is also fabulous for the nervous system, so these two in combination should really help. And, given the effects of magnesium on the intestines, I wouldn't be surprised if you find that you no longer need the drug.

I am on amitiza and I have not experienced any anxiety issues, but do you get very severe stomach aches from it at times? I can not figure out how to get rid of the sharp stomach pains it causes and my doctor suggested that I am not consuming enough food while taking it.
