If a post ends up NOT being pinned, does this mean that the question was deemed inappropriate or just uninteresting or something?

There are a few scenarios: a moderator hasn't gotten it yet and nothing is wrong with it (we are slow sometimes, because of the volume of this board), it is spam, or it is not a topic that is appropriate for the board. Uninteresting, but relevant (i.e., related to Celiac/gluten/etc), will still get pinned. Uninteresting is subjective, after all
If its not pinned, it will be marked invisible and you won't be able to see it (even if it was your own post). Members can always see their own posts by clicking on their user name and clicking "view posts" or "view topics". Unpinned posts can be seen if it is at the front of a specific forum (on the front page), by clicking on "View New Posts" at the top of the page, "Today's Active Topics" at the bottom of the page, or clicking on the last page of each forum.
If you are referring to your post from 11:15am: http://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...=53885&st=0 - it has been pinned. The moderators are all volunteers and some posts get pinned within minutes, and some take a few hours.....varies from day to day.

Thanks for the reply! I was just wondering in general about pinning, and how it works, and what it might mean if a post doesn't get pinned. I realize that it can take a while for a moderator to pin a post....
