Meridian, Idaho- Chicago Connection

I just got an email from my MIL who lives in Meridian. She said she drove by Chicago Connection and there was a sign that said they now have Gluten Free crusts. I've never eaten there and I have no idea about their cross contamination preventions, but I thought that was pretty neat! Just thought I'd pass the information on. Has anyone had their pizza yet? If so let us know if it was any good!

Hey just an update- Hubby and I ate there tonight. It was really yummy too. The gluten-free crusts are 10" and they are the thin crust style, so they are pretty thin. I asked our waitress what brand they were but she wasn't sure. She thought they got them from Food Services but who knows. Next time I'm going to ask the manager. I would have asked them tonight but he wasn't there.

Hubby really liked the crust- it had almost a buttery flavor to it I thought. He preferred it over Louie's pizza and it was about the same price as Louie's only at Louie's their crust is about 7" but thicker (and more dry I think). I think I do prefer Chicago Connection because the atmosphere is more laid back too. But I like how you can get pasta at Louie's. Anyway, I'm starting to ramble but just wanted to let you all know about it!

Wow, that is great news! :) I will tell my dd. Her fiance has been gluten-free for a week or so to see if his rash on his face will clear up. My dd is not sensitive so cc shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the tip and feedback. I bet other places will get wise when they hear Chicago Connection's business will be doing well. ;)

I just noticed this last week at the Nampa Chicago Connection. I loved their pizza pre-celiac. I can't wait to try it.

I think it's pretty cool that we have choices now! We can go to Louie's for a more "regular" style pizza or Chicago Connection for a thin crust style. I'm not really sure what I prefer yet as Louie's changed their crust and it's pretty dry now. But it is nice to have both styles!

Yay! My dd saw it on their sign in Boise too, just a few days ago!

I've beening enjoying both gluten-free pizza's at Louie's and Chicago Connection. I realized last night that I enjoy Louie's pizza more than CC's the day after. Got a slice in the toaster now... :D

Glad to find this website. I suffered from painful/embarrassing symptoms for more than year, and was fairly recently diagnosed a celiac. Having a background in biochemistry, it's still been a challenge to figure out what foods to avoid.

Thanks for all the info on this Forum! :P

Haven't been to Chicagoland yet - but I'll put on my list to try now that they have gluten-free pizza! Also heard that Uno Pizza is now serving gluten-free, but my favorite in Chicago is Marcello

That's a good idea. It can at least establish the potential for developing celiac disease and can help people decided between a celiac diagnosis and NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). And it doesn't require a gluten challenge and can be had without a doctor's prescription.

I have my endoscopy on Thursday, has anyone had the procedure done with a cough? I don't have a continuous cough, but every now and then throughout the day I have sort of coughing episodes. They are a lot better than they were but I called endoscopy and they said to speak to my gp and my gp got back to me and said I need to ask endoscopy if its ok if I have it done still.  Help!

Thank you so much, everyone. For the moment my doctor just has me taking iron but hopefully we can reconnect soon. I'm going to look into genetic testing, too. Great advice all around and I appreciate it--and you can bet I'm going off the PPIs!

I walk fast for fitness, 4 to 6 km per day. I am also 74 years old. Apart from the Celiac challenge, my lifestyle is healthy. I had a sciatiac nerve pinching under my one foot, with inflamation in my whole shin. It was almost cured, when the other shin started paining and burning. I do stretches, use a natural cooling gel and rest my feet. Can Celiac cause muscle pains/inflamation, or is it just over-excercising?

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?
