New Computer

frecOregon

Recommended Posts

frecOregon Newbie

I got a new computer in January. It died in a power outage--very sad. I still had the same email, but when I tried to log on to the forum I couldn't. It recognized me and my password but always sent me back to the Guest register here page. I could read the forum but not post. I've been quite frustrated.

Anyway, I finally got new email (for other reasons--long story) and re-registered as a new person with a new password, and now I can post again. I was frec and now I am frecOregon. Can anyone explain what happened? I'm suspecting something about my new computer security or something?

Could I put something on my old frec page to show I'm frecOregon now? Thanks.

I had the same thing happen (except that I killed my old computer with a bowl of stew). I switched to Mozilla Firefox and haven't had the problem since. I just figured it was something to do with Explorer...

You could visit your old profile page and leave a comment that tells your story and your new name.

Are you saying that your email and password were recognized, or did it say the login was incorrect? As long as you enter the email which you signed up with (or the last one which you updated in your profile) it should obviously work.

When I had the problem, it recognized my email and password, said 'logging you in' or whatever the phrase is, then snapped back to the guest page. Every time. Even changing the cookies setting didn't help. Only difference I know of is that this computer is running Vista, old computer was XP.

That is exactly what it did to me. I'd log on with same everything, it would say welcome frec, then switch me back to being a guest again. It just rejected me again even with the new email and new password and ID. I left Explorer and used Mozilla to get here and that works. Thank you both very much. And thanks Scott for trying to help. I know you're busy.

Just speculating here. One possible cause would be if celiac.com was unable to set a cookie.

And the fact is, no two celiacs will necessarily respond the same to gluten exposure. Some are "silent" celiacs and don't experience obvious symptoms. But that doesn't mean no harm is being done to their gut. It just means it is subclinical.

Thank you, Trents.  I appreciate your helpful and friendly reply. It seems more likely to be a bug.  It has been a pretty severe bought. I feel that I don’t have enough experience to know what signs my little one shows after exposure to gluten.

Hannah24, be aware that if you are on a gluten free diet, you will invalidate any further testing for celiac disease (except genetics) and would need to go back to eating significant amounts of gluten for weeks or months to qualify for valid testing.

Hello, @Hannah24 Have you had a DNA test done?  Celiac Disease is genetic.  You must have at least one gene to develop celiac disease.  You don't have to be consuming gluten for a genetic test.   Anemia, diabetes and thiamine deficiency can cause false negatives.  Some lucky people are seronegative, but still have celiac disease.  Peripheral neuropathy, tingling in hands and feet are symptoms of vitamin deficiencies.  Vitamin C, Thiamine B1, Niacin B3, Pyridoxine B6, and Cobalamine B12 can each cause peripheral neuropathy.  These same vitamins are needed to produce blood cells.  Most undiagnosed Celiacs suffer from nutritional deficiencies. The DNA test would be helpful.

We do hear of cases of remission but they generally eventually revert back. I wouldn't push your luck.
