While enjoying Allison Griffiths "Dollars and Sense" last night a brief mention was made about deductions for gluten free products. Viewed government site (www.cra.gc.ca) which stated the following: "the incremental cost associated with the purchase of gluten-free products, as to the cost of comparable non-gluten-free products. A medical practitioner must certify in writing that the person requires gluten-free food due to celiac disease". Just thought I'd put this info out there. Will be saving all receipts for 2009 tax return and see what happens.

I don't know what the requirements are in Canada but here in the States you have to reach 7 1/2% of your adjusted gross income before you can even begin to
deduct for medical expenses of any kind. That's a ton of gluten-free food!
