Here's My Son's Test Results

Hello! My son is suspect Celiac Disease and we went to the GI Doctor on Monday. Even though he has been on a gluten-free diet for two months, she still wanted to do the Celiac panel. We have been instructed to take the "gluten challenge" for three months and then she will recheck the Celiac panel again then. Here are the results from this week:

AGA IgA was 2.8

AGA IgG was 21.6

EMA - none detected

TTG was 0.1

If these had been tested while consuming gluten, would the numbers have been higher? What are your thoughts on these results? Also, since going back on a gluten diet, his loose bowel movements have gotten better and not worse, as I anticipated.

Since he was gluten free at the time of testing the results may not have been accurate. They recommend consuming alot of gluten for 3 months before being tested(blood or biopsies)

With celiac some people don't even get symptoms so you can't base it on not being worse since being back on the diet.

      Enlarged lymph nodes in neck and groin with celiac are not uncommon. They can take time to reduce even after going gluten-free. Monitoring is key.

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
