Good story. I'm suprised my husband didn't hear that. He listenes to NPR all the time. Thanks for sharing.
Me:
Celiac disease(positive blood work/biopsy- 10/2008), gluten free oat intolerent, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis/Disease, Raynaud's Disease
DS2(age 7):
celiac disease(positive IgA tTG, no biopsy- 11/2010)
DS1(age 11):
repeated negative bloodwork and negative EGD/biopsy. Started on a gluten free trial(8/2011). He has decided to stay gluten free due to all of the improvements he has experienced on the diet.

I just listened to this a few hours ago. It was good, although I felt like they made it sound easier than it is, in the sense of picking out packaged foods and eating in restaurants. I was glad that they addressed the problem of underdiagnosis.
I listened to the podcast. Is On Health actually on the radio? I got the impression it's online only.

Anemic off and on since 2003
Negative tTG Ab, IgA, Gliadin Ab IgA, wheat allergy (IgE) blood tests (Feb 2006)
Positive wheat allergy skin test(Apr 2006)and dietary response (Feb 2006)
Celiac grandmother (Dx in 1940s, "grew out of it")
Training for my first triathlon to support the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

Its so hard to get signals where we are in Kona, I cant pick up NPR and dont know the answer.
