Ok so Im a current student at University Alaska Fairbanks and this is for all celiacs and gluten-wheat free people who are current and future students of UAF. Since I have been living with the normal people and noticed that I have been getting sick due to the fact someone has been using my mayo and smearing it all over wonder bread and violating my mayo. I would like to get a group of like gutted people who are celiac and form team wheat-gluten free house. This would be epic since no one would wheat the counter and cooking things violate the mayo and jam with the evil wheat and its comrades. So anyone want to join this epic adventure in Fairbanks?

I don't live in Alaska but I'm a Celiac college student. My first thought is... is there any way you could contact the school's administration and tell them about your condition? If you could get some literature together about Celiac and get something in writing from a Celiac doctor, the school might take your condition seriously. If you live on campus in the dorms, and you can explain to them that living with your roommates is a danger to your health, I think the school should be forced to provide you with a safe alternative place to live!

What I personally would do in your situation is to get a safe and put all my non-perishable food in it! :D Especially for the short-term. Nothing makes me more upset than people who know I can't have gluten and aren't careful about contamination. I would deny those people access to my food immediately. For now, you might have to give up things that other people could get into when you're not around, like Mayo, jams, relish, etc. I have my own room with a lock on the door. Inside is a mini refrigerator, microwave and mini oven. I have a big Tupperware with all my snacks in it. If you have your own room, you might want to do something similar. There is no chance of getting glutened when everything is separate. Also I would recommend plastic silverware and paper plates... to cut down on the amount of dishes you are sharing with the glutenous roommates. I try to stay out of glutenous kitchens as much as possible. There is all kinds of different "mini" kitchen hardware you can buy to create a virtual kitchen in another room. I take advantage of private spaces like lockers and backpacks to keep snacks in.

im experienced and im no noob to room mates. I just put the idea out to see if anyone in Fairbanks would since its cost so much for the food here, bulk orders are easier with other people. I just don't want a mini-kitchen I lived in a cabin with one and they suck. The school doesn't have to provide accommodations, the kitchen is ok and they will provide food but I don't live on campus or want to. Since there are other people like me in Fairbanks and that attend the school this would be a great to room together or have some sort of connection to hang out. The school wouldn't release that information since it is personal, it wouldn't be covered under the freedom of information act since it is after all very personal. I just got bored and wanted to give it a shoot and see what comes back.

Fairbanks, we loved that town! We spent three months in Alaska. Love it Love it.
Are you from ALaska or a college transplant?
We met a girl who worked for the university. Sveta Yamin. DO you know her?

Unfortunately, I'm in Anchorage and not in the UA college system (I elected to go Outside for college) or I'd take you up on that. I'm not looking forward to sharing a kitchen next year with people who don't clean up after themselves and who will attempt to use my food. Again.

Yeah its hard i take whole foods to my room and store it in a plastic box from freds. We had separate cabinets to store our food in and it worked out. You could get a cattle prong and zap them if they get into your food.
