Here's the email I got in response to "the" question at McAlister's Deli in Slidell, Louisiana. I wish there were more veggie options, but at least there ARE options. Also, I love the personal message instead of the form letter "we can not guarantee...." blah, blah, blah answer we usually hear.

Mrs Debbie~

Hi my name is Stacy Weaver. I'm the General Manager here at McAlister's Deli in Slidell. I am glad for your email. I have some good news and bad news for you. None of our soups are gluten free. However, we do have many options. Here is a list of the items that are gluten free at McAlister's Deli:

  • Chicken strips
  • all cheeses
  • all salad dressings
  • steamed broccoli and carrots
  • fruit salad
  • potato salad
  • mashed potatoes (without gravy)
  • plain spud (you could add chicken)
  • our land o lakes butter
  • smoked turkey
  • roast beef
  • corned beef
  • chicken salad
  • tuna salad
  • ham
  • bacon
  • garden or Caesar salad (without croutons)

I hope this helps and you come in and see us a lot. : )

Thank you, Stacy

I looked at their website and apparently it is only their *Fajita* chicken strips that are gluten-free. They also note that their grilled chicken breast is NOT gluten-free due to the seasonings used. I would bear that in mind if you add chicken to a plain potato per this manager's suggestion. The website also lists Southwestern Corn Soup as gluten-free [is that like chili? if so you could have a plain baked potato with chili on top a' la Wendy's].

I haven't been to McA's for awhile. Maybe soon--my wife likes this place.

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!
