Hi All,
I just joined a moment ago and am hoping to find a good GI doctor in Manhattan or nearby.
I have terrible gas, and occasional bloating, but the former seems to be my only prominent symptom, and while it’s always been present, I feel like it has intensified and become much more frequent in the past 8 months. It seems to happen with any food, but it’s certainly more prominent/frequent with soy, cheese, eggs, creamy sauces, onions, beer, and sugary foods. Again, I never really have a churning, upset stomach, just horrific gas, and I’m now I’m thinking it’s the gluten. Maybe I’ve always thought it was the cheese, but it was really the bread/pasta, or the combo thereof. Again, I don’t think I’m lactose intolerant because milk alone never upsets my stomach.
I would love to get tested and speak with a knowledgeable doctor. I had another PCP who was a GI a few years ago, but he blew off my concerns, and more or less told me to eat less broccoli.
A friend of mine recommended Dr. Adam Steinauf, but he doesn’t take United Health Care. If anyone has any recommendations (ones who might take United or not), I’d love to know.
Many thanks!
Caitlin

Jim Marion, who is one of Steinauf's partners, is also pretty good. Don't believe he takes any insurance though. You should ask about the cost of the visits because I think they are reasonable.
