Hi,
I will be traveling to Switzerland in just a few weeks! I am very excited, but want to do everything in my power to maintain my gluten free diet. I will be bringing a copy of my gluten allergy restaurant card in English. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this in the following languages: German, French, and English?
Also, I am planning on going to the grocery store and getting food items as soon as I arrive as I will have access to a fridge. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding getting gluten free food from an international grocery store?
I will also be bringing as many gluten free snacks as possible in my luggage.
I really appreciate the help!
Thank you!!

I was going to suggest Triumph Dining Cards, but it doesn't look like they have one in German.
Here are the languages they do have:
English, Chinese, French, Greek, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese
Have fun on your trip!

Iron Deficient Anemia / Blood Clotting Disorder / Severe Vit D Deficiency / Low Cortisol / Progesterone/Testosterone Deficient
Persisting Sx: bouts of extreme fatigue, dry itchy skin, dry gritty eyes, bouts of brain fog and terrible short term memory, hair loss, hypoglycemic tendencies, low body temps, low BP, cold hands and feet
UPDATE: Began BHRT 9/22/10 and it made a world of difference, for about 2 weeks. Hair loss stopped almost completely, energy levels way up and felt 19 again! Going back for a booster this week....

I know at least some grocery stores in Switzerland carry gluten-free items because my hair stylist was there in the spring & brought me back some things: cereal, cookies, crackers. She said there were frozen items, too. She said there was a lot of selection.

The brand SCHAR is a well known gluten free brand in Europe. I think it is German and it is really good. I have buoght some of their products here in Australia and they are expensive but excellent. Iknow there are many more gluten-free brands in Euorpe. Italy has a wide range available so if you go to Italy you should have plenty of choice.
I don't think you will have any trouble finding food. I know that in Italy gluten-free food is found in pharmacies rather than supermarkets. Maybe Switzerland is similar so check the pharmacies also.

I have family living in Switzerland and have found that English is spoken widely - avoid the rosti (a delicious potato dish but generally made with some flour). The Swiss are very cosmopolitan as they do business mostly internationally - as always make sure you ask!
Check out www.selectwisely.com - I always use these wherever I travel - they are so helpful - You will absolutely love the country - one of my favourites - if possible make sure you walk the coast of the lake in Geneva!
