As the topic says, I recently just started Valerian Root because I read here it is very helpful for people with insomnia: http://www.vitacost....n/Insomnia.aspx
Anyway, it seems to be working for me. I have used it the past two nights with excellent results. It also seems much safer than melatonin, which is actually a hormone.
Just thought I would spread the word, if you haven't already tried it, I think it is definitely something to consider. Best 4 bucks I ever spent!

I tend to have an odd reaction with Valerian.
If I take it right before trying to sleep (within an hour), I cannot fall asleep or stay asleep for the life of me!
But, if I take it within three hours, I pass out like a log!
So, I guess it all depends on how you take it sometimes.

I seem to have a somewhat late reaction to it as well. I take it 2 - 2.5 hours before bedtime.
