Hi i am not sure what the problem is....
I have celiac disease and have been gluten free for about 1.5 years. I went out for dinner at someones house and they said the curry we ate didn't have gluten in it. About a day later i started feeling sick...nausea, stomach cramps, passing bowel motions 3 times a day (not normal for me). I don't know if i have been glutened or not as i just usually get a headache when i have been. Maybe its coinceidence and ive picked up a bug.
The problem is i have no appetite now and feel like vomiting everytime i eat. I am concerned cos im already extremely underweight.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Well, I'd certainly suspect something at your friend's house but, if the nausea and inability to eat normally continues, I would consult my doctor. Could be a bug; could be you are more sensitive now? Others will post.
Feel better,

Hello
I have Celiacs too and have been gluten free for three weeks. I accidently got glutened yesterday for the first time since going gluten free and I could not beleive what happened. I started out with a headache that gradually got worse throughout the day and by the time I went to bed last night was a full blown migraine and I was quite sick to my stomach and was pretty bad. The kicker was I was making regular mac and cheese for the kids and not even thinking scooped up the last bite in the bowl and ate it before thinking WHOOOPS. Earlier in the day I had a very small bowl of Frosted Flakes before seeing that it had malt in it- a NO NO for gluten-free. My point is the chance that the curry at your friends house or possible any other very minor thing could have triggered you. It could also be the touch of a bug as you stated

Isn't curry spicy? It could be that...I have to be very careful with spicy foods now...tends to run right through me if I've not made it homemade (like salsa, etc)
-Self-diagnosed gluten/wheat intolerance 2007. Negative (basic) blood test for celiac disease March 2009.
-Diagnosed positive for Celiac 5/11/2010!!
-Vitamin D low (last year was deficient), Iodine low, Protein S low. Balance/dizziness not related to Celiac.
-Elimination diet 11-4-2009 and ended 02-28-2010. Tolerating dairy again. Highly intolerant to soy, sensitive to green peas and corn kernels.
"Oh CRAP! Are you SERIOUS??

I think it depends on how sick you were with Celiac, and how much gluten you were imbibing previously. (Before diagnosis). Here was my reaction recently......
I am fairly new to these boards, and was diagnosed a month ago (after being sick for 6 years). I was doing fine on the gluten-free mode, until I went to my-in-laws in another city. They KNOW I have Celiac and had presented chili with muffins for dinner. Of course, no muffin for me. However, I ate the chili. OMG. The next day I was completely worthless, and was in the bathroom the enitre first part of the day. I was weak and achy for 4 days after that. I finally asked them, ?Did you put any kind of grain in the chili?". Reply, "oh just a 1/2 cup of flour". WHAT???????!!!!!!!!!!! I might add I have "beaten" an end-stage pituitary tumor 2 1/2 years ago, with 2 horrific surgeries, etc. So, my point is I have been through a lot physically. Part of my amazing recovery was adhering to an organic, vegetable based diet, and organic fish and dairy, I might add.
My father-in-law thinks that food sensitivites are in the same category as emotional "illnesses" He said that in "his day" people ate what was prepared. Needless to say, I went to the grocery store myself and purchased food to prepare for everyone.
Arghhhhh!
