I have been gluten free since june 09 (with a few slips)
Problem One) I've had trouble with severe acid reflux symptoms for a while and even while being gluten free I still have a really hard time with this. I can't lay down even, it's really bad. I am ALWAYS nauseated plus have heartburn.. literally 24/7. What should I do? Any explanations.

Problem two) I was slightly overweight when I was diagnosed and could never lose weight no matter how hard I would try. Well, even now I can not lose weight worth the life of me. If anything, I'm gaining weight. =( what should I do?

Problem 1 - May be unrelated, but I had my gallbladder taken out. My acid reflux is gone totally.

Problem 2 - Hate to tell you this, but I gained 70lbs. and cannot get it off for the life of me! I am doing turbo-jam, yoga & walking a lot!. My Dr. says that my body is still on "starvation mode." I suppose the theory is that your body grabs every calorie, because it thinks that it is being starved.
Hope this helps!
Good luck! Sherri

hi myfathersaKING
i struggle with reflux too. i have a hiatal hernia, which i believe is because my intestines swell and get hardened/damaged when i eat something i'm intolerant to and the top part of the stomach gets pushed up past the diaphragm. anyway u may or may not have that, but mine goes away when the rest of my GI system is calm for enough time. if you do have it, there are ways to push it back down and also some chiropractors are experienced in myropractic manuvers or visceral manipulation which can help your organs go where they're supposed to and do what they're supposed to do again :) other thoughts about reflux- do you follow the food combining rules? do you drink water throughout the day? sleep on a wedge? eat little to no complex carbs? chew DGL tablets? eat multiple small meals instead of 1 big one? avoid dairy? those are all things that really help me. also the valve at the top of the stomach will close better when any vitamin deficiencies are taken care of, especially calcium (but not the crap synthetic non absorbable calcium in tums!!). also how old are you, sometimes peoples stomachs produce less acid when they're older and they have to take HCL with meals to digest better. or swig some apple cidar vinegar
but ya for me it's mostly a diet thing
grew up on steroids, allergy meds, antibiotics, birth control, got cytomegalo virus and had IBS ever since
nightshade free 6/09
gluten, dairy, soy free 8/09
corn, nut, legume free 11/09
grain free 12/09 (specific carb diet - awesome)

IBS, asthma and hiatal hernia/reflux now on the outs!

"Jesus went throughout Galilee... healing every disease and sickness among the people." Matthew 4:23
