Hi everyone,
I am of Italian descent and was wondering if anyone else who is Italian is dealing with celiac disease? I know celiac disease affects 1 in 250 Italians and was wondering if I could get your attitude about the cause and treatment of this disease.

Hi Amanda. I think prevalence of celiac disease in Italy may be higher than that. I read a couple papers indicating Italy having the highest incidence of celiac disease, but that was from several years ago. More recent papers documenting screenings from many different countries are showing celiac disease prevalence to be closer to 1%. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed
