My son is having endoscopy on 12/15 and prior to the test we had changed his pasta to gluten free but not his bread. My husband was diagnosed 3 months ago and has been gluten free and feels wonderful. My son has had negetive blood work ( My husband also) son is 10 weighs 54 pounds very skinny allergic to soy, malt, corn and oat. What should i try to have him eat for accurate biopsy????

I'm trying to remember - my son had an endoscopy at age 10 also, but that was 5 years ago.

As best I remember, the endo said that eating the equivalent of one piece of bread a day was enough.

Did your son have negetive bloodwork and a positive biopsy?

He had slightly positive bloodwork and a positive biopsy. He had no active GI symptoms, but was very small for his age - at 10.5 years, he weighed about 60 lbs and was only 50.5 inches tall. He was not "skinny" but was about average, except he had a distended belly.

Any helpful info you can give would be great. My son's bloodwork was negetive his total iga was 78 and normal range was 73 to 200? He is 2 years behind in growth and weighs 55lbs at 10.6 years old.

He starts to gain weight every april (growth spurt) but then by next april he wil only gain 1-2 pounds if even. He projectile vomited regular formula and breast milk. I had to feed him soy formula now he is allergic to soy!! I just want a answer. My husband has celiac.

I am glad to hear that he is at least still eating gluten bread. Do take him back to a full gluten diet, go back to wheat pasta and give him any other gluten items he will eat. You want the best chance possible for an accurate test. As soon as the biopsy is done get him completely off of gluten. You don't need to wait for the results. Keep him gluten free for at least a couple of months to see if it helps whatever issues he is having. If his main issue is growth I personally would keep him on it for at least 6 months.

There are supplements available that can help breakdown minor amounts of gluten such as you might experience with cross contamination when dining out and you order gluten free items from a menu. But they will not help when larger amounts of gluten are consumed. One such product that many on this forum attest to as having helped them in this regard is GliadinX. The inventor of GlidinX is one our forum sponsors so you should know that.

There is such a thing, believe it or not, called gluten withdrawal. Gluten has addictive properties similar to opiates. I know it sounds bizarre but research it. Also, are you compensating for the loss of vitamins and minerals you were getting from the FDA mandated fortified wheat flour products you were formerly consuming?

Does anyone else get soaking wet sweats just out of nowhere? I’m not in menopause, there’s nothing wrong with me except celiac disease and my thyroid, and I’m taking my medicine. I am 18 days gluten-free but I cannot stop sweating and it makes me freezing cold and I’m soaking wet and changing my clothes literally as I’m changing my clothes the new clothes are soaking wet and nobody will help me. Please somebody out there help me.

Sometimes I end up spitting out a drink of water! But for the most part I do ok with the liquids that I've been sticking to which Is hardly anything carbonated (meaning diet soda mainly)  I drink alot of tea which I make myself lipton cold brew sweetened with half sugar and half Splenda, smoothies when I could in the beginning but made with milk so I'm now using orange juice instead of the milk but it doesn't workout real often I drink black coffee in the mornings with no trouble usually and I've been experimenting with some juices but the sugar content is a set back I'm not a huge water fan but will drink it unfortunately where I live I can't do the tap water I'm the only one who has a problem with it apparently but for some reason I just can't...unless I'm using it in coffee or tea and the tea even took me some time to stand yes I have thought about boost/ ensure but they are very costly for someone who is scrapping the bottom at this time
