Sleep Issues

Can celiac mess with sleep? I'm trying to nail down the cause of my sleep issues. I had a really bad week for sleep because of finals but now can't sleep more than four or so hours at a time (often less than this). Has anyone else had problems related to sleep? I have had insomnia for a long time and take meds for it, but now this is different. I've never had trouble staying asleep before.

Thanks.

Any food intolerance can mess with sleep. Stress from finals can just add to the sleep issues. Hopefully now that finals are behind you that your sleep will get better. If it doesn't and you are definitely staying gluten free, consider other food or even chemical intolerances.

I had extreme insomnia for four years, including many nights with no sleep at all. I went off gluten and it didn't change. I then realized I was getting cross contaminated. Once I removed all traces of gluten, I started sleeping. It is so wonderful! Going gluten free has done for me what no sleep medication or supplement could do.

Going gluten-free has been the best thing for my sleep! I used to rarely sleep more than 3 hours at a time. Lately I've been waking up a little after 5 when going to bed about 10. My body doesn't know how to handle it yet but it feels great! The dark circles under my eyes are getting much, much lighter. Who knew? All these years my doctors have tried all these different medicine combos to help me sleep and gluten-free was what I really needed.
