Hi Everyone- I want to highlight my hair and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a salon brand that doesn't use gluten. If not, what about over the counter stuff? Thanks, Beverly
PS Afraid my hair will stand on end and fall out if there's gluten in it!

I've been using the Lo'real Professional products. Majablonde, Majarel, Dia color, Pure Platine, Crescendo, etc. They are in my opinion the most conditioning products on the market. I quickly scanned through the ingredients and have not found any red flags yet.
This is what you need to do. You MUST do a patch test 48 before. You need to determine what color will be used, applly a small amount in the area behind your ear. It must remain there for the processing time. If you are going to be using an off the scalp bleach, I suggest a strand test. The bleach will put on a strand of hair in the nape area and kept seperate from the rest of the hair during processing time. This is not usually done, but if you are that sensitive to products it would be extra protection for the 2 of you.
Tell the receptionist this is a color consultation with a strand test. It should be booked for 10-15 minutes of time for the consult and expect to be put aside during the processing time. Processing times range from 10 - 45 minutes.
This is very general information, and your chosen professional may do things differently depending on the products they are using. Depending on the color you are going for the, your choice of product could be tint, high-lift tint, bleach, semi-perm, or demi-perm color all different processing times and procedures.
Good luck,
Laura
