Uggh Now D And Cramping Again!

Well now the D is back. I drank apple juice (Apple and Eve brand) during lunch.

I'm hoping it's fr the apple juice. Do you get the D from apple juice? I thought apples was supposed to do the opposite!

u might have a problem with fructose. google Fructose Malabsorption. i think it's based on new studies out of Australia... but after months of being doubled over in pain- i found info on it- and it completely rang true for me. i still have to eliminate some other things-probably some sugar & grains, and of course dairy.. BUT- i can tell u- since i stopped eating my daily pears, and also avoided other high fructose things like dates, apple juice, HFCS, and too much in one sitting of bananas or prunes-> i feel SO MUCH better! i didnt get the "D", and my "movements" were fantastic- but i was doubled over in painful cramping- it was horrible.

and i never used to have a problem with apple juice.. but i think with Gluten Intolerance-> our systems go thru phases (temporary OR permanent) where it may be hard to digest other things

Thanks, I've never had problems w/ applejuice or any juice before, I hope I don't have that fructose thing! Did you see my other thread? I was having problems last week so I thought my aggravated stomach couldn't handle apple juice today.

When I see my GI at the end of the month I'll ask him to test for the fructose intolerance.

My 5 yr old son and 8 yr old daughter get D from apple juice. Always have! It is the only thing that does it so I don't know what it is about the apple. They have other Frutose things with no problem.

My son gets D from apple juice too! Same thing, always has. Even as a little baby, people would say "don't you give him a juice bottle?" And I'd say "not unless I want to dehydrate and kill him!" :0) Just a few weeks ago, shortly after I was diagnosed with Celiac, that same son, now 11, decided he wanted to try gluten-free too. He's feeling so much better! He used to fart up a storm and complain of back pain, tummy pain, D, and was generally very cranky and emotional. Since going wheat free he's like a new kid! Thinking back to that apple juice thing....I wonder if he's had food allergies all his life, and I just didn't notice. O no, now I have "Mom guilt!"

Regardless.... I think getting D from juice is pretty common. It's a TON of sugar, despite it appearing "healthy." Lots of manufacturers make lower sugar versions of juices now. Perhaps you can try those? Now I'm not sure about the gluten content etc.... That would have to be researched, but I know that neither me nor my son do well with juices. Get well soon!

The one I had is organic(Apple and Eve), I only buy organic everything. And it has no added sugar, the only sugar in it is whatever sugar that was in the apples.

Anyway, I only had one itty bitty tetra pack yesterday(the one w/ a straw). We'll see today how it goes, I think I'm ok.

it might just be that it's just too much fiber for someone with a compromised digestive system to handle... not a big deal. when my little brother was a toddler- whenever he had "C", he would scream for my mom to get him apple juice to help him go.

maybe u could try mixing it with water- or waiting till he's more stable... or just picking a different juice from now on... (and not Pear juice- even more fructose AND fiber than apple)

I didn't have any today, I had some grape juice, not apple :).

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
