I got glutened a couple of days ago by my toddler. I've had all the usual symptoms and today was added the worst bowel cramps and most painful C. Any suggetions? It hurts BAD.
Lots of doctors diagnosed me with lots of things including IBS, lactose intolerance, wheat intolerance, and quite a few of them threw up their hands in total confusion.

Had GI symptoms, allergy symptoms and unexplained illness my whole life.

Jan. 2010 Diagnosed celiac at the age of 40.
Ready to get well and get on with my life!

I suggest for the pain:

Strong peppermint tea;

Yoga or pilates exercise which focusses on the lower abdomen;

Walking;

Hot showers with the spray focussed on the painful area;

Laying in bed with a heating pad on the painful area;

Playing pingpong. Though only slightly aerobic, that takes my mind off my pain by keeping me focussed on the ball and rapid fire return shots.

I used to get C with every gluten or food allergy reaction, but especially dairy. I used probiotics, magnesium supplements, soluble fiber and extra fluids. However, no matter what else I did, I returned to normal regularity after my painful reactions stopped.

I can sooo relate to your pain. I used to describe my gluten reactions as bits of broken glass slowly moving through my intestines, my dairy reactions as more intense that my worst menstrual cramps, and my other 5 allergies as combinations of those 2 symptoms. Fortunately I don't get accidental contamination very often.

However, I'm currently beginning the final week of a second 3 week antiparasitic drug treatment. During a previous round of that drug treatment the 3rd week was also the worst. The intense bloating and intestinal cramps rivaled my worst gluten reactions. The pain was so bad today that I don't know how I'll get through this last week, but I'll remember all my own suggestions for you.

SUE
Gluten, dairy, soy, egg, cane sugar, vanilla and nutmeg free. Enterolab diagnosed gluten/casein intolerant 7/04; soy intolerant 8/07. ELISA test diagnosed egg/cane sugar IgG allergies 8/06; vanilla/nutmeg 8/06. 2006-10 diagnosed by DNA Microbial stool tests and successfully treated: Klebsiella, Enterobacter Cloaecae, Cryptosporidia, Candida, C-diff, Achromobacter, H. Pylori and Dientamoeba Fragilis. 6/10 Heidelberg capsule test diagnosed hypochloridia. Vitamin D deficiency, hypothyroiditis, hypochloridia and low white blood cells caused vulnerability to infections. I now take Betaine HCl, probiotics, Vitamin D, thyroid supplement, arabinogalactan and DHEA to improve immunity.

Sue, I avoided doing much walking today but now thatI think of it I probably should have done it to get things moving.
