I had trouble gaining weight. I have gained 5-7 lbs since March. I needed supplements for the mal-absosrption. I take D3, ultra flora probiotic, fish oil and B12. I eat mostly a whole foods diet.

I splurge on "gourmet" ingredients once in a while(free of all the things I need to avoid). I figure it balances out all with all the cheap cabbage, zucchini etc. that I eat and all the meals cooked from scratch at home. I bought a bottle of lemon olive oil while on vacation, that cost as much or more than a bottle of good wine, but it was something different for a change and convenient flavor. I'll get the rosemary olive oil to enjoy next time. If you didn't have the problem with eggs I could recommend a brand of mayo that's mustard-free. Took me a while to find one without soy and mustard! Bit pricey, but again, I indulge myself every once in a while. I can't afford to use these as my staples, but savor them while I have them.

However, I suspect you are blaming various food intolerances or digestive problems, without considering what causes your digestive problems. Until you determine why your digestive system is so challenged, worrying about weight gain is overlooking the cause of that symptom.

I want to echo this sentiment. Depression, anxiety, and chronic stress can all cause digestive issues all on their own - ones that may mimic "food intolerances". In fact, if almost all foods give you problems, I wouldn't be looking for specific foods, but other things that are a constant instead. Chronic stress on the body (be it emotional, psychological, or physical) affect hormone and chemical production throughout the body, and can make digestion much slower and less functional.

(Yes, you can "think yourself sick". It's not the same as saying it's in your head, but rather recognizing that non-digestive problems can cause digestive problems.)

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
