My husband has Celiac Disease and i was just wondering if i should use Gluten free make-up, shampoo, lotion, soap and any other product i use on my skin and hair.

And if so, what products that are in STORES such as wal-mart, target, stop and shop etc are Gluten free?

my kids are and I use gluten-free products. my makeup is Everyday Minerals, lip gloss is Neutogena, shampoo and conditioner are Dove. A lot of what I use is from Unilever, it makes it easy when reading labels :)

Thank you so much for the advice :) I was recently using Suave Professionals and while reading the label i noticed it said it had wheat in it and my hubby hasnt been feeling well lately so i made the connection. I'm going ALL gluten free now. So ive been doing some research all day on what products are Gluten free.

So is it hard having 2 children with Celiac Disease? I'm just curious what symptoms if any did they show before you found out? I'm just wondering because i have 2 boys (2 and 4) and since my husband has Celiac Disease chances are our boys will too one day.

My dd was diagnosed when she was 4, right after our son was born. She was totally fine, then BAM, stomach cramps constantly :( I believed my son had some form of Autism up until he was 2 1/2. He had tested negative at 2, but started chronic D at 2 1/2. I took him off of gluten just to see what happened and he did a complete 180. It's like the "autistic fog" lifted and he was a totally normal kid. Later, his biopsy showed 'suspect but inconclusive' and our GI diagnosed him off of his dietary response alone and he's been a completely different kid ever since! I can't say it's hard, it's almost been 5 years so at this point it's second nature. It can be challenging at times, but that's life ;) Cooking and baking are a great hobby/passion of mine, so there's nothing that they're going without (see that Stormtrooper cake in my picture...)--i.e. I made ice cream sandwiches on Sunday, I think those were the biggest hit in 5 years!

If there's anything at all I can do to help, never hesitate to ask!!

Thank you so much, everyone. For the moment my doctor just has me taking iron but hopefully we can reconnect soon. I'm going to look into genetic testing, too. Great advice all around and I appreciate it--and you can bet I'm going off the PPIs!

I walk fast for fitness, 4 to 6 km per day. I am also 74 years old. Apart from the Celiac challenge, my lifestyle is healthy. I had a sciatiac nerve pinching under my one foot, with inflamation in my whole shin. It was almost cured, when the other shin started paining and burning. I do stretches, use a natural cooling gel and rest my feet. Can Celiac cause muscle pains/inflamation, or is it just over-excercising?

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?

HI, my doctor suggested one week of consuming gluten before blood tests.  I have been gluten free for 3 years.  Has anyone been through this and will I get exact results after one week of consuming gluten?  I don't even know if I can do this, if I get sick I am not sure if I can continue, any suggestions??  Thanks in advance.
