Between the slices I will be placing sliced garlic, bay leaves, fresh thyme leaves and season with salt and freshly-ground black pepper. Then I will slowly drizzle wonderfully zippy green olive oil directly from olive trees that are about four miles from our Croatia house. Then roast until the slices become lightly browned and crisp around the edges; however, the interiors will remain buttery tender. And to finish, I will sprinkle with fleur de sel. Does that help? :P Just doing my best to practice kindness today.

Woo hoo, just came back from buying my beef short ribs. Got a great deal on them so bought double. Got the chocolate, got the wine but forgot the can tomatoes. :( Tomorrow.

Tonight is shepherds pie.

Mr Mindwarp cooked a steak in avocado oil, and it was amazingly tender.

I am not sure why it tenderizes more (since it's not any enzyme or an acid), but I noticed this as well. I will do some digging and see what I find :)

Roasted root veggies (in broth and herbs)

Sauteed spinach (much to the hub's dismay)

Then from now on I will be more descriptive of what I am cooking. What looks to be a simple dish in words can sometimes involve lengthy and interesting components. Just wait til you see my plans for tomorrow's dinner!

I'm so curious to hear your thoughs on this, Sora. It tastes as though it has about 390 layers of depth to it, yet it is simple to make. One of those things that seems as though you've slaved over it all day (and no need to tell anyone you didn't!).

Have you seen her since she lost a lot of weight? She went down from a size 18 to 12 and looks fanastic (she always did in my opinion).

BTW, notice my food porn profile photo? ;)

After we do the beach thing can we go to a culinary school or old library or museum in Europe? Sorry but I am not a beach person. I love the sea but not the beach. Or we could do this - whilst you are obtaining the men, I can cook! I love the reserved, intellectual, bookish and cultural types who are good in the kitchen. ;) Sound ok with you girls?

I'm pretty sure that in stores, you can find plenty of gluten-free options. But they are usually a bit more expensive.

Hello @BunnyBrown and welcome to the forum. I cannot say that I have had the procedure you describe, but recently I did have general surgery and was routinely intubated.  That pain was what troubled me most after the operation, far more than the operation site.  It took a few days to really settle down, I was quite badly bruised. It was taking so long I was a bit concerned so asked the question on another forum. A few patients came back to me and said they had suffered the same.  I imagine in my own case possibly the throat got bashed about a bit,  maybe they had difficult inserting the tube?  I've suffered with a painful throat post-endoscopy too, but never as long as the intubation pain.   I hope you will be feeling better very soon.   PS BTW - love the name!  I saw this today in an Easter display in a shop and your name reminded me of it.🙂

This wonderful, Anne. I think you have a point about why people disappear off forums.  I found the first few years post diagnosis a real struggle and frankly wondered if I would ever feel better (not to dishearten people, but just to say it can take a while longer for some folk to heal).  However, once my antibodies were back within normal range it really has made a big difference to my health.  I've chosen to stick around because I'm a Mod, otherwise I might have been one of those that disappeared, too!
