I think I might hold off coming till this poop thing is sorted :)

It was +12 here yesterday. That is normal. For April. The UK just had the second wettest year since records began. Only missed wettest by an inch or something. That would be great if we didn't keep getting our rivers roads and railroads flooded. I am not complaining.too much though. It is lovely and green here. And not humid, can't do humid, makes me come out in a rash and not breathe. How about a Vegas trip? We could take over a hotel and commandeer the buffet for gluten-free. There are some actual cabanas there too.

Sorry, I can't be reached by flattery. And besides, you've not seen me around electronics. Everything I touch turns to poop  Oh well, guess that does make me qualified for the job :P But I still decline, even with chamois leather gloves.

Crap! That means, at the end of this, that I have to keep SUD.

It always turns out like this.

(Ya'll are still welcome down. We'll just leave suck up Danny for driving & emptying our tanks & general banter, occasional banging.)

Leave him.

I know how to do the tanks. I had one of those years ago.

I could do the 80 thing in the winter for a while I suppose. Honestly though, I escaped that hot, humid BS back in PA and there is no way I would volunteer for that again. No way, no how. Bring on the 95 and dry, but hot and humid? Sorry but you'll be on your own. :P

Tonight I almost made tacos. Then I just didn't. Headed out shopping for tomorrow's excursion. Picked up a Costco chicken, some baby carrots and a mango and got everything all packed up in neat little containers in the fridge. I just had a little of the chicken and a mashed potato for supper.

I'll add some fruit leather, some V8 fruit thingers and a camera to my backpack and I am pretty much ready to go tomorrow. I have no idea how I am going to sleep tonight. I'm practically bouncing off the walls as it is. I intend to drop the film off tomorrow for digital developing so hopefully I'll have pics tomorrow night!

Edit: Oh, and we're going out to eat tomorrow. Woo! Rodizio Grill, which is a Brazilian grill sort of thing is amazing and nearly gluten free. The only thing they serve I can't eat is the chicken. They even serve gluten free bread, and always have! And deep fried polenta sprinkled with parm. To die for! They have people (usually good cabana boy candidates) that just bring a never end parade of grilled meat to your table and slice it off for you right there, and grilled pineapple too. Plus a salad bar with killer quinoa salad, and they keep all the gluteny stuff (all like 2 of them, or maybe its just the rolls) away from the gluten-free stuff and have people watching so morons can't walk up with dirty plates or some retarded thing.

Happy Birthday!

(wear a hat, they slobber)

Thanks everyone! The morning was freakin awesome! I'm just chillin' til dinner. My husband is warming up, I think he is pretty much a hub-sicle. Poor guy, and I'm the one of us who doesn't normally handle the cold well.

Ah... but the remainder of what I did today. Now this involves food. And an endless parade of cabana boys meat servers whose entire night was filled with pleasing me. This is a small taste of the variety you'll get should you ever venture this way. http://www.rodiziogrill.com/about-us One actually slice off a rather large piece of beef then said "sorry it's so large" and went on his way. I completely lost it.

I enjoyed a few of the rolls, cheesebread made from teff. It is light and fluffy and comes out warm. It melts in your mouth and is just mmmmm.....

Cheesebread_zps7e323bf5.jpg

I had a Brazilian limeade which I never ever go without when I go there. I have a thing for limes. It has just occurred to me, literallly as I type this that I'm not supposed to do citrus. Crap. I foresee a vision problem incoming... and that is all I'm gonna see for a while. :D That little green/red thing behind the glass is how you let the cabana boys know if you want them to keep coming or not. Oh yeah, keep on coming boys.

Limeade_zpsd4138bec.jpg

The real reason I go though? The menu. They don't hand you a menu and say this is what you can eat. They give you this. This is what you can't eat. Sure, it includes most of the desserts. (But they have creme brulee, flan and fresh made ice cream so um... who cares?) A "menu" of what I can't eat the size of most restaurants menus of what I can eat? Yeah, sign me right up!

Yeah... Sharp as a spoon most days. And we aren't talking grapefruit spoon either.

Addy, I am so glad you had a fantastic day, what an amazing experience, you look fab. I can't get over that menu,, amazing.

Edited to add, I wonder if love2 could sort the rest of that menu out to be gluten-free too, just for the heck of it?!

Me again, popping in while you all sleep (maybe except mushroom). I am not allowed to weigh myself during the whole30 but I did just have to make a new hole in my belt :) :) :) .

While I am doing it for health primarily, I am more than happy to lose a few pounds on the way.

I am visiting a dietitian this week, I will have to try and look away when they weigh me...

You're doing great, W30 buddy!!

I do not wear belts, so I have no clue what's going on.

I am sleeping better, but I am also having w/d symptoms and my joint pain is through the roof.

I miss half and half in my coffee and I miss "happy hour" but, I'll do anything to dump some of this pain.

I have been reassured by Ski and a few others that we will be fine in a few days.

Having done this no grains, legumes, dairy thing before, I recall the first few days were "wonky", so I push on.

Dinner tonight:

Roasted chicken

Sauteed chard

sweet potato for me

and yukon golds for the hubs

    • Thanks for posting this Adrien, it's a great list and I and others will appreciate the effort and the thought behind it. I loved my time in Malaysia and I'm glad I sampled all the food I could whilst I was still on an unrestricted diet. The good thing is that, like you say, some of the nice Malay foods are still ok. As a backpacker I survived on a lot of nasi goreng and laksa, nice to think if I return there I could still do the same Terima kasih!
    • I have posted on here before. DQ2, brother with celiac, DGP iGA was the only mildly elevated test. Was gluten-free so did 6 week challenge last winter. Negative biopsy. I am gluten-free now but do go out to eat. Prior to the challenge my health was good. Since then I have: Chest pain, pain between shoulder blades, periods of shortness of breath, heart palpitations, one instance of a heart arrythmia episode, neck is tender to touch on one side (they kept saying sinuses or TMJ which my dentist vetoed) ear ache, bowels never sink. Numbness and tingling. Blood pressure variations. Could be doing chores and feel dizzy and it might be 84/52.  not super low, but not typical for me if I'm running around the house. While other days I am mildly hypertensive. Recently lost 5 lbs in 8 days without trying. Recently electrolytes were low, alkaline phosphatese was low. Ferritin started dropping so started liquid iron 2-3 times per day 4 months ago. Primary watching that, I am not anemic but we are nowhere near iron overload either.  GI doc was a dick. Did not even know DGP replaced older tests and he was very condescending When I begged him for help recently and told me to get a second opinion which is exactly what I plan on doing.  I now have pain in my upper GI area. It is tender to touch. I had my gallbladder out in 97 along with a stone and infection in my bile duct. It hurts in this area. Pancreatic enzymes look fine, liver enzymes fine. Pancreatic ultrasound fine. I will now be doing a EUS Soon to look at bile duct, pancreas and liver.   so a typical day for me is that I might feel fine for a while and then suddenly feel like I'm going to pass out. really dizzy, numbness in odd places, like my body has been hijacked. I will typically eat a bunch of food something high protein and in about an hour or so I start to feel better. However, then my upper stomach starts to hurt in place of the passing out feeling. blood sugars are also normal. After getting the " it must be panic attacks" and condescending looks a million times my primary finally ordered an ultrasound of my sore neck and there is an abnormality in my thyroid which she says looks like possibly Hashti's. Except for one time, all my serum TSH tests were normal. We have more blood work on Monday. As I have not put on any weight and there are other symptoms that are closer to Graves.  Has anyone else had any thyroid issues that followed doing a gluten challenge?  where is your stomach pain? Do you have it above or below your belly button? Mine feels like it's in the pancreas area, like 2-3 inches above the belly button and when I push on it it's tender, but not all the time. sometimes i feel it in my back.
    • Thanks for sharing with me.  I really appreciate it.  Honestly, after a glutening last summer (still do not know what glutened me), I did not eat out for a year!  The risk was too great as my healing time took 3 months (for symptoms to subside) and six months to regain lost weight.  Our recent vacation to Europe was worth the risk  as we traveled with our entire extended family, but we were extra cautious and ate only at celiac-approved places.  Otherwise, we "dined" at markets or ate the food we brought from home.  Thankfully, we did not get glutened (at least we don't think so!)
    • I do not struggle with this and I was brought up the same way as you. I don't struggle because for many years off & on we didn't have a bathtub, only showers as well as this being therapy or medicinal for the skin - heck even for the muscles as I age. I figure I've earned my right to luxuriate or medicate with baths any time I've a mind to. My husband saw just how bad my dh got & NEVER begrudges me a nice long soak in the big soaking tub we now have.
    • Hi, No, I do not have celiac  disease. I have an ankylosing spondylitis which is an auto-immune disease provoking an inflammation of the joints. Under the advice and supervision of my doctor and the professor at the hospital I follow a gluten free & casein free diet, which is extremely successful in preventing inflammatory events. And I've been doing so, strictly, for more than 6 years. So I'm not Celiac, but I can tell you that I react strongly every time I take gluten even in small amounts. Even soya sauce, which according to this website has an almost zero dose of gluten, is a lot too much for me. Nevertheless I allow myself to eat food which has been processed in a factory which processes gluten. To conclude, I would say that when you are travelling, especially in a country where celiac disease is scarcely known, you should be twice as careful as when you're going out at home. In the end you can never guarantee that the cook has cleaned his pan after using soya sauce and so on... You can only bet
