Pitstop change....

hubby over ruled i&o - well for him because he still can eat other places - stopping in Burbank for panda express for him - i&o for guys and I'm sticking with salmon and beef jerky.

Tomorrow night - HUGE pot of turkey soup - cooked "Ralph" in Tahoe and have been draggin' his poor frozen bones all over the flippin' state!

Bonus - soup feeds the army of teens coming to band practice - wait - somebody send me back north please ;)

Darling, I love you, but I have to ask- how is alfredo worth that?

No food is. I am trying to determine if it was some sort of fluke or if I really can't eat it. It is worth finding out because it is one of the hub's favorite meals. I want to make him happy, and he hates eating something he knows I love so much in front of me so he hasn't had it since the incident. I am hoping that whatever it was happens to be related somehow to the mac & cheese I had eaten the day before (or two days, I'm too lazy to go look it up right now) as I was never able to pinpoint a cause for my pain. I assure you, I am not 100% crazy!

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Makes me feel good.

Just finished a hugh spinach and kale salad topped with egg, cheese, bacon, sunflower seeds and ranch dressing. My favorite thing in the world to eat.

Speaking of Alfredo, I remembered after I read it that I have chicken that I tucked into the freezer. Have my Thai rice noodles and Alfredo sauce. I'm set for tomorrow.

GAH!! It is past 3 and I have no stinkin clue what is for dinner. I have a block of pepperjack from the dairy that I get my milk from. Worst case scenario I will be 100% lazy and make quesadillas.

The alfredo was almost successful. It didn't make me sick, apparently I have become sensitive not only to soy proteins but to soy oil and it made me lose my vision again. <_< Imitrex at bedtime and I am feeling hungover today. I guess I'll just have to resort to making my own sauce, which I don't have a problem with but sometimes I just like how handy it is to say hey, I have this jar laying around my cupboard and don't feel like cooking. Now I have to watch my tyramine for a few days and can't eat my new chocolate almond butter so I'm a little pissy but I did bring it on myself.

Love seeing all this lovin' here! :)

Tonight we're having part of Fish and Chips - I am making a yummy crispy chip batter (not frying but baking) and homemade tartar sauce with scores of capers. Oh, and mushy peas. But no fries or onion rings. Instead we are having a simple classic Caesar salad (with homemade dressing of course). So, I suppose we're being sorta British and sorta American tonight. We like to play games at our house. ^_^

Oh, you poor dear girl. Isn't it funny how we try to remain optimistic and hopeful that something will work? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes it may later on. Be well soon, K? We all need you! :(

Feel better Addie and quesadillas are not lazy -- throw a little something on top and it looks gourmet :)

Turkey Soup as planned with many, many mini muffin tins of pamelas bread -- usually treat hubby to fresh french bread on turkey soup night -- but some family along with son's band is here -- do not trust all those gluten eaters to use care ;)

Double like! Have to show that one to kids - they all make fun of my mousse :)

Of course they all devour it gladly when I don't provide other dessert option ;)

You eat it all the time. If our mothers were right you would have turned into one by now.

Yep - its either that or my vanilla ice cream type substance and the old moooose blends up quicker and firms up in frig rather than freeze.

And I was a good girl that listened to my elders - never followed anyone that jumped off a bridge - I have, however...been the first to jump ;)

I'm copying this for tomorrow night....and no bungee jumping for me - that snap would fry my circuits - landing in water is the only way to jump off a bridge - oh don't forget to wear tennies to break the water :)

I had half an onion in the fridge so I fried it up, added some stewed tomatoes and put it over rice to go with my quesadilla. I have been neglecting my veggies lately because I have been worn down so much. I haven't been as responsible as I should be about my veggies lately and I need to knock it off.

Bungee jumping is on my list of things to do one day. It looks like a blast! I don't do water on my face so jumping into water won't cut it for me. :P I'm not sure exactly what it is that makes me say I'll jump off a bridge but there is no way I would ever jump out of a perfectly good airplane. I guess I'm just wired funny.

It was downright cold in Florida this weekend. (Really, I swear.) I made red beans and rice yesterday and have chili in the crock pot for tomorrow.

Former boyfriend known as "other" smoked a chicken today. I stuck 1/2 a lime and an onion in it. Had that with smashed potatoes and really awful gravy with salad. He's lucky. (So am I.)

I find this highly amusing. Men are always complaining that we expect them to read our minds, yet can't just make the most simple requests of us!

Back from travels. Do not seem to have been hit...unless tomorrow I wake up and have trouble remembering how to make coffee cause

I'm gluten head stupid, so yaaay!

Went to the gym today for the first time since I was quite ill back in 2010. MAJOR victory for me..

When I am unable to walk or lift my arms tomorrow we'll see how excited I really am about it.

Dinner tonight:

Burgers and sweet potato oven fries

(but I'll keep my opinions about those poor burgers to myself.)

Hey, welcome back buddy, you went to the gym? Well, I think I need some of that whole30 thing. Oh, wait, I already did. 2 people I haven't seen since before I started said how well I look today :)

Great news, really great. Isn't it great when you ache like a normal person, because you used some muscles to exercise?

Dinner was sloooow cooked beef, broccoli and carrots.

Seasoned boneless skinless chicken thighs with a plain baked sweet potato and rosemary roasted brussel sprouts tonight.

I think brussel sprouts, asparagus and sweet potatoes are three of my new favorite foods. Yum!!!

    • It only takes a minute to make a difference. Celiac disease has been overshadowed by the gluten-free diet fad. Getting diagnosed and staying healthy is no piece of cake – those of us who have celiac disease struggle to stay healthy. We need better. We need to be understood. We need a cure. View the full article
    • If you are one of the approximately 2-3 million Americans with celiac disease, ZyGluten™ may be taken before you eat out at a restaurant or a friend\'s house, as it may help break down any gluten cross-contamination that you might encounter. View the full article
    • Advil (ibuprofen) is gluten-free, but can be a stomach irritant, especially if taken on an empty stomach. That said, I will also place my bet on the garlic and onions. As Raven said, eating more than once a day may also help. An empty stomach is likely to be an irritable stomach.

    • Thanks for posting.  I know it is difficult to talk about these sorts of things even on a webforum.  It is good thing for people to be aware though about celiac disease and that it can cause mental problems.  Gluten can cause brain damage and it can cause anxiety. If the brain does heal it may take a long time. I know that gluten can cause anxiety and obsessive thoughts.  My experience has been similar to your experience. When I first quit eating gluten I had a similar constant loop and strong negative feelings. There are lots of people on this forum who get anxiety when they eat gluten. Some people also experience gluten withdrawl where they experience anxiety after giving up gluten. It can take a long time for the body to heal and for obsessive thoughts to go away.
It is normal for people to socialize with each other and to be comfortable about it. You said you have problems still socializing and being around people. It might be a depressing thought but it sounds to me like you still have problems with anxiety.  I would recommend considering what options you have available to treat the anxiety. When I quit eating Gluten I still had some symptoms, even though I felt much better. I have been slowly recovering over a period of about three years. I had obsessive thoughts even after I quit eating gluten.  Now I very rarely if at all think about those things. My experience is that my mind would latch on to certain things that caused me anxiety and focus on those things. Sometimes my focus would shift and I would latch onto other things. My ability to socialize has also improved greatly with time. I have made some dietary changes which I believe have helped greatly. It sounds to me like you have obsessive thoughts about things and maybe some brain damage. My experience has been that my obsessive thoughts about different things went away with time. I feel my obsessive thoughts were caused by gluten and not by what people did around me or any events. As my brain healed I became more self aware and things became less stressful.  I can't give medical advice on this forum but I can talk about my current diet and my experience with celiac disease. My experience with gluten is different from a lot of other people so it is a good idea to ask other people and to talk to a doctor.  I avoid oats and avoid almost all processed foods. I buy certified gluten free food. I eat healthy and I exercise every day. I take st John's Wort as I have read studies that say it may be as effective as some other anti-depressants for treating certain types of anxiety. It is available over the counter. I started with a small dosage and then stepped it up over time. I think it helps a lot.  This is also something that you should talk to a doctor about first. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Martin_Mahoney2/publication/7426926_St._John's_wort/links/540d8acc0cf2f2b29a386673.pdf A lot of people with celiac disease have vitamin deficiencies.  Vitamin b deficiency can cause anxiety. Some people do not process the synthetic form of vitamin b (from normal pills)  very well, and do better on an activated form of vitamin b. I take:
      1 activated vitamin b12 daily
1 activated vitamin b6 every once in a while. 1 regular vitamin b multivitamin
      1 magnesium pill every day.
      St Johns Wort daily.
      1 zinc vitamin daily
I drink lots of Chamomile tea and decaf coffee. I avoid most caffeine.
I think each of these helps lower my anxiety level.  I eat fruit with every meal. Canned fruit from walmart is cheap and good for you. I eat salad and and vegetables and avoid dairy.  I eat frozen fish often as it has healthy proteins. Eating healthy is very important. I eat potatoes and rice. http://www.livestrong.com/article/454179-what-is-methyl-b12/ I avoid eating soy sauce, soy, cheese, aged meats and fermented foods (I do drink certain types of alcohol in moderate amounts.) These foods contain lots of Tyramine. I might (or might not) have "monoaine oxidase deficiency" and if so high Tyramine foods should be avoided.  I thought I might have problems with elevated ammonia in my blood, but I am not convinced of that anymore. I limited my consumption of meat for a while as well as dairy but I am not sure if i helped.  I have heard that Celiac disease can effect other organs besides the brain and those organs can have an effect on the brain.  My current diet is working so I am going to stick with it for now. I try not to worry about things that are outside of my control. Be patient as it took me a long time to recover.  Let me know if you have any questions. There is a lot of information on this site and people who are willing to help.
