Man my house smelled great tonight...First a triple chocolate cake, then a rich vanilla cake and just pulled a sinful strawberry out -- no ice cream tomorrow as we will be partying at the bay/beach bon fire -me thinks no one will miss it with three cake choices -- sure wish you all could cruise by :)

I  swear, I think my pants just got tighter reading this post.

I'm stuck in this mire of feeding a sometimes GE husband and frankly having little interest myself in food, despite being constantly hungry. It just is not pleasant to chew things, even if I can manage to get through a meal, I shouldn't have to drug myself senseless on painkillers just to eat. I'll probably make him a burger and fries tonight. I'll maybe cook up a pot of fresh applesauce for myself. I'm still doing okay with roasted veggies too, since they don't get too terribly crunchy.

aww, poor addy :(  i'm so sorry you are still so hurty :(

love2 - what is that photo of (i don't care what they are i'm eating them) on your avatar???

CAKE is one of my very favorite words in the english language.  CAKE makes me happy.  three different kinds of CAKE i would go outta my miiiinnnnnd  <say with a southern accent lolz

so, it's a crummy day here, all rainy and such.  i have navy beans soaking from last night and fish out of the freezer, so it's either fish and chips (NO vinegar for me, hubs will drown his in poison malt vinegar) or venison chili (and i usually put some 'chili-ground' beef in it - it's like chop meat only very course ground)

race is on tonight - my guy is still out with injury - going to watch it at our kid's house - i see redbridge in my future.....................;)

 !.

I think she could crumble up the burger and swallow it? Might make her feel better to get some protein.

Because I know, they are macaroons. I could spot a macaroon from a mile away. They are an amazing, naturally gluten free, melt in your mouth, French delicacy that will make you wonder how you ever lived without something so amazingly wondrous.

I gave my husband a heart attack at the Fire and Ice festival we went to. I spotted a little stand with macaroon samples, recognized the brand logo as being the same one from the gluten free fair I went to last year. I walked up, grabbed a packaged sample and popped it in my mouth. My husband was like "OMG!!! THAT IS CAKE OR SOMETHING!!!" I was like chillax bro, its a macaroon.

Noodles are a good idea. I am mostly staying away from too cold things. And I'm too lazy to make soup. But.... I may have soup in the freezer! Chicken veggie soup I could just add rice to. You're so brilliant.

Oh... and for the race beer-fresh.gif

hey, when I say this about these kiddos not eating cake for dinner and making sure they are getting their protein, you say "Oh let them have some goodies".  I wanted to be "lenient mom" for a change.

I have been drinking buttloads of milk. Like, gallons. When you are hungry but too sore to eat, it really is the best option to keep nutrients and protein in you. Plus I ate that meatloaf the other night. I could just mash it up without having to chew it. :D I have a spare in the freezer too.

. You're so brilliant.

Would you say that again louder so the hubs can hear that please? or my Mom? <_<

Not to be picky, but I'm pretty sure they are macarons not macaroons, but I'm gonna let LOVE2 tell you that.

I'm sorry. I type macaron and the spell checker is all RAWR! and tells me I'm an idiot. So, I was like oh, I must be spelling it wrong. I came home from the fair last year and the spell checker was tellin me how stupid I am. So I've been spelling it wrong for a year because the computer called me dumb. :( At least now I know that when I got home it wasn't a memory problem that made me type it in the way I did.

Either way. I still know what it is, even if I can't spell. :P I will beg forgiveness later from the culinary goddess.

WHEW!  So relieved you came to that conclusion.  One of my wee pet peeves is the macaron vs. macaroon issue thinger.  There is a huge difference between the two - my photo is indeed macarons.  :D

I have always been aware that those things are NOT the crap my mother stuffed me with as a child made with coconut. While I enjoyed those coconut thingers, they are not some super amazing thing I would possibly trample people for. I just assumed that it was the sort of instance where two things can have the same name. Nope, the computer just talked me into being a moron.

I'm just glad you aren't talking about banishing me to culinary hell for letting myself be led astray for so long.

I don't know anyone who would dare to disagree with you. ^_^

And now simply heating up frozen chicken soup has turned into a project. As soon as it is warm it will end up in a casserole dish with a crust type thing on top and in the oven to become a chicken pot pie. I threw a couple potatoes in the oven to turn into twice baked potatoes that I can just reheat in the microwave later. Poking around here can become dangerous because it puts ideas in one's head.

Luckily, we tested the brakes then drank tea.

As a splendid bonus, the place we had tea turns out to be a very nice seafood restaurant, with a celiac savvy chef/owner. None of the sauces are made with gluten, he gets cross contamination AND the fryer is a dedicated one just for chips (fries).

I haven't eaten out since last September, but I think I just found my spot :)

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?

HI, my doctor suggested one week of consuming gluten before blood tests.  I have been gluten free for 3 years.  Has anyone been through this and will I get exact results after one week of consuming gluten?  I don't even know if I can do this, if I get sick I am not sure if I can continue, any suggestions??  Thanks in advance.

PPI's can be a wonderful healing agent when used as prescribed on the label which I believe recommends use of up to 8 weeks. But they are like antibiotics in that they are overprescribed and undermonitored. Docs generally prescribe them and then keep prescribing them because they take care of immediate symptoms so well. Physicians are more into treating symptoms than uncovering causes.

For the vast majority of celiacs it's probably safe, however, it seems that for those who are super sensitive it's best to avoid such products. It's fairly easy now to find brands that are naturally gluten-free, which is what Celiac.com recommends.  You might finds this article interesting:
