Unexplained allergy-type reactions have prevented me cooking or eating several dinners this week -- very frustrating that the only thing that works for me is Benedryl and then it's off to snoozle-land for me.  Good thing my men cook too so I've had dinner for breakfast/lunch the past couple of days.

Tonight I am doing fairly well -- small reaction when I was out and about but seems to be ok with just inhaler -- so tonight will be tri-tip with garlic pasta and broccoli -- oh and left over pineapple mixed up cake from the other night.

Zippity Doo Daa!

I aced my Bio final even though I was falling asleep at my desk due to Benedryl to counteract the allergic-type reactions I've had this past week!!!  and I am such a PITA that the professor emailed me to tell me as he knew I'd be tracking him down to find out :D

Teaching the son to make chili got post-poned so we are about to do it right now for dinner tonight :)

Wooooohooooski!!!!!!!!

Isn't it great to be back?

Having my own little celebration here. Just got out my map and thread, and I walked 10 and a half miles today. As well as half a day volunteering. And watching The Great Gatsby. (I loved it. And I think I have an idea for a new cabana boy).

Hope you had seconds of that cake. You are just awesome.

wow! whoohoo for you too! 10.5 miles! kudos, lady! You're pretty awesome yourself.

welllll.........since we're reporting our "feats" today :D --I lifted 7,500 lbs. today (that's 10 strength-training machines, 75 lbs. X 10 reps) (SKI, check my math!)

and biked 1.5 miles in 15 mins. and walked 1 mile  in under 20 mins..

Not bad for someone who could not even walk a block or tie her own shoes not long ago.

The GG is one of my top 10 all- time fave American novels and I hope I will enjoy it too. I usually like all the movies you like, so I expect I will.

Confirmed 7500 pounds -- jeez Irish -- thought you were a bit tired from all the hauling!  and you walked and rode too -- these lungs of mine better be happy tomorrow so I can catch you two.

The cake turned into triple chocolate cake with peppermint buttercream frosting...the men hate it when I do that ;)

PS...the new GG is well -- pretty swell....saw it in 3D with youngest son and sister ... so it felt like we were partying right along with elite sponges that were entertained by JD.  I was re-reading the novel before the movie -- still have a bit to go...been juggling several books lately -- nice to have a brain that can follow more than one thread these days!

A bunch of fun women(and the occasional adventurous male) discussing pompoms, wine, final exams, NASCAR, robotics, their children, their boyfriends, their cabana boys, their asshat neighbors, wine, book and movie reviews, their crazy ass mothers-in-law, wine, cake disasters, lessons in Croatian, why arugula is both delicious and fun to say, the many ways to use bacon, the many ways to use cheese, adventures in kitchen mishaps,  (did I mention wine?), the weather, skiing, the news--good and bad, how crock pots saved the world, humidity and how it makes your hair curl and your hands swell, the absurdity of Canadian snow, why tomatoes are not fun a food group to lose, and all the endless encouragement for any victory, from the very small to the ginormous?

...oh, wait, you probably meant the ways our brains and bodies rebound off poison! yeah, baby, that's the coolest stuff!!!

Dinner tonight:

A chicken on the counter-top rotisserie, steamed asparagus, taters for the hubs. It's too hot to spark up the oven and I just cleaned it and I want it spiffy and shiny.

Why, you ask?  our first potential buyer comes today. Called before the house was even officially on the market .

Why, you ask? I told you........... the asshat neighbors would gossip and the word would spread.....

So, MW! I saw Gatsby today. (it's been pouring rain for 3 damn days, and since the hubs had no golf game, we thought

lunch and a movie made sense)

It was very true to the novel and wildly creative. Loved it!

Dinner is veggie pizza. It's Friday and I am lazy. :)

I have been trialing fresh toms....so far, so good. whoohooo!

I have no idea yet what is for dinner. My husband is working tonight at the grocery store closest to home and I told him to surprise me.

Wednesday I woke up sick as a dog. Just nauseous and icky. I felt mildly better yesterday, until I had horrid pain in my lower right side which sent us to the ER. At this point I was like score, I get to have my appendix out... nope. Turns out that they have no freakin clue what the hell is wrong with me. They sent me home drugged up and it still hurts today, just not the curl up in a ball in bed and cry kind of hurt. They did a CT and found absolutely nothing that could cause this. So frustrating!

At least I'm a little less nauseous again today so eating won't be difficult to manage at all unless that comes back. (Which is good because the only manufacturer I could get in contact with today for generic zofran told me it is made of wheat and the name brand is like $75 with my insurance. Um.... I'd rather vomit.)

Yay!!! Pizza and movie date...sounds like a purr-fect Friday :)

Addie...feel better...glad you are less queezy!!!

We had surprise visit from my daughter and the grands....and the parents let us keep the kids all day...they haven't had a date day in over a year....we have had a blast....my men are wonderful uncles and now all are at the park while I prepare bathtime -- then I will hug them, my daughter and her hubby and send them on their merry way.... :D

oh dinner for the pipsqueaks was chicken, pears, asparagus and grilled cheese.  uncles are having street tacos that one made...hubby has money in his pocket for a rare gluten treat once he switches the cars back later.  hmmm...i think i will have wine.

Lately I have been eating this recipe a lot, because it is easy to make: in a pot you put some canned chickpeas, tomato sauce with sour cream mixed in, along with some spices (garlic powder, pepper, herbs, cumin etc.)

Then you just heat it up for a few minutes. I usually eat it with rice and kale.

Welcome DJS!

Nice to see a new face in this thread this morning -- come back often -- we mix chit-chat with what we are having for dinner.

Tonight the youngest is having an all nighter -- can't call them sleepovers when they are seniors in HS ;)

Lots and lots of ribs, mac and cheese, broccoli and some sort of cake!

We had a lovely sunny but chilly day yesterday, and wednt with assorted family to the zoo. It quite a small one, with a lovely playpark. We all had a great time.

Lunch and tea were brown rice, boiled eggs, olives, salad leaves, tomatoes.

Addy, hope you are feeling better.

The more I think about Gatsby, the more I like it. Spectacular.

Grands sound fun ski :)

I would see Gatbsy again! shall we go next week? I love the roaring 20's

The closest I came was playing Flo the Flapper in a production of Good News. LOL

Mw, Your day sounds lovely!!,

It's been raining for days and days and if we still had all the wood we disposed of, we could build an ark.

People are coming to look at the house today and told the agent to make them take their shoes off. I am tired of wiping the floor

of assorted footprints..... and pawprints.(but that's our Bella's fault LOL)

Dinner will be bison chili because it's easy and can cook while I have to leave the house for this "showing".

People walking through my home feels "creepy"--especially when it's the jerkface neighbor's family coming to gawk.

I am not pleased, but the hubs says "who cares? their money is green....". I do not share this logical wisdom.

Movie Date!!!

We all go at the same time wherever we are....hmmm across the pond could make this complex...but would be cheaper for me as I would get the before noon discount!!!  Ok...maybe we shoot for the same day -- what's the next "girlie" movie coming out?  I'll check....or we could do a book club --- maybe start with some oldies, but goodies and give everyone plenty of time to read!

Last night turned to steak night for eight men and two ladies...I bonked feeding 7 eighteen year olds all day -- so I bought a huge top sirloin roast that hubby carved into steaks -- bibity bobity steak for 9 on a shoestring.

Tonight will be ribs...they are soaking in pineapple juice as I type...slow roast then finish on the BBQ.

Cauliflower Fried Rice

Asparagus

Lemon "Brownies" -- stupid name for something similar to lemon squares....

Happy Sunday Everyone :)

Any one make some good baked beans. The kind you put bacon or ham in? I think I can buy some from a local BBQ restaurant but I haven't checked the gluten-free status from them today.

Bright blood in the stool would indicate bleeding down at the lower end in the colorectal area as opposed to the small bowel below the stomach where celiac manifests damage to the villous lining. Are these blood stools persistent? It's not unusual for this to happen once in a while to most anyone when a small surface vessel breaks, kind of like a nose bleed. As Scott Adams said, you must continue to consume regular amounts of gluten if the specialist will be doing additional testing for celiac disease, which could include an endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining.

Checkouts gluten-free recipes at twww.redstaryeast.com We tried a bread machine years ago and weren’t happy with results. Bread machines have pre-set rise & bake times.  Unfortunately, the program doesn’t adjust to slight differences when measuring, relative humidity or temperature of ingredients & in kitchens.  Lots of efforts for ONE odd- sized loaf that hard to cut into useable slices.  College-aged son found best use for bread machine was as heavy duty mixer that ‘kept dust in the box.’  He would pre-measure ingredients for 2-3 loaves & use machine mix up individual batches.      Since gluten-free bread needs  to rise only once, each recipe of dough went into a loaf pan. Pans sat counter to rise—time dependent of temp in kitchen. Then, baked in oven until he, not machine, decided it was done.     Took ~10 min extra up front to measure & mix additions but adds nothing to rise & bake times.     Loaves are great for slicing (Slice extra before freezing!). One mess to clean up, saves time & energy since you need to bake  as is half as often (If  you plan to bake lots more than bread, opt for KitchenAid/ heavy duty mixer instead.  Cover with dish towel to capture dust!)     Personally, I’m sure I had as a kid since I’ve never been a fan  of bread. .  Have been wrapping corn tortillas around things for 40+ years.  Can still get a dozen 12-pks of tortillas for same or less than price as 1 load of gluten-free bread. PLUS. the tortillas have more nutrients!

Welcome to the forum. You are lucky because in Korean food, many classic meals such as bibimbap without sauce, barbecue meats and some kinds of soups generally do not have gluten. But it is a good idea to confirm with the restaurant workers for safety reasons. Regarding certain locations, I enjoy going to places such as Plant in Seoul and Sprout in Busan. Moreover, using applications like HappyCow or TripAdvisor can assist you to discover additional choices in the regions you plan to visit. One big tip: it is good to know some important Korean sentences, for example 'I cannot eat gluten' (geulluteuneul meogeul su eopseoyo)  or 'Does this have gluten?' (igeoe neun geulluteuni deureo innayo?) because they can be very helpful. If you are considering getting a local guide, I'd suggest this one https://gowithguide.com/korea They were very helpful when I needed to find places with gluten-free food options because they provide tours tailored to your preferences. Good luck with your travels! 🍻

It is concerning.  Unfortunately a lot of doctors don’t know a lot about celiac disease, even some gastroenterologists.  Here is an article for you: Celiac disease and miscarriage I hope you have a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby!
