I make killer, amazing, to die for donuts. But they aren't a recipe. They're a mix. I tried them at an expo, and none of the gluten eaters there could tell they were gluten free other than knowing they were at a gluten free expo. http://www.glutenfreeheaven.com/~glutenfr/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=46

I'll have to check into that. Are these the kind you fry or bake? I suppose I could not be lazy and open the link. LOL

I use abelskiever batter...tastes kinda like a buttermilk old fashioned:

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/aebleskiver/

I sub Pamela's Baking Mix for the All Purpose Flour called for in the recipe.

Let us know how they turn out...never thought about a donut pan....sounds fun  :)

I know someone has a good donut recipe, but can't remember who -- Addie maybe?

These look good... might have to try my hand at frying some...

I have a brilliant idea!  (but I need someone else to do the work ;))  Can we take all of these awesome recipes, get them organized, and just have our recipe section here on the site?  The on-line gluten free cookbook   compilation by us, for us!

Those look easy. I think I'll make it a 1 egg recipe the first time. I always make the smallest amount of something the first time just in case I don't like it or something.

If you want something awesome to make with the flour you could make red velvet cupcakes. (Red not required of course, or you could use a natural food coloring.) They simply amazing, and doubly so with the frosting. http://www.premiumgoldflax.com/recipe_glutenfreeredvelvetcupcake.php

Tonight we're having some sort of steak or another. I forget what kind we bought, but they were a great deal. I think we're also going to the 2nd run theater (also known as the dollar theater here) to see the "new" 300 movie. Date night! :D

I musta missed something, I didn't know miss Arlene was letting doctors knock her out. Feel better fast!

And the donut mix I get is fried donuts, which is (in the world I grew up in) normal donuts. I make donut holes because they're easier than round donuts. Amazing, delicious, melt in your mouth and eat until you're sick, fried donuts. I've even done my donut holes Boston creme filled and chocolate glazed. Ooops... I'm drooling on myself again.

I already use it that way -- I just use the search "this topic" window in the upper right corner of the page.

In the past, I have started threads with all salad recipes or all cookies.  The problem is that the posts all fall to the bottom after they aren't posted in.  Then someone starts a new thread.  It might be nice to have recipes, but wouldn't it need to be organized - like a thread for salad, a thread for entrees, etc?  We could "pin" them so they stay at the top of this cooking thread but that would be a lot of pins and that doesn't work well.  Would just one thread work, OK?  Could we keep people from commenting too much?  What do you think?

If I see a recipe I like, or think I will like, I bookmark it. Then when I have a little time and no get-up-and-go, I get them typed up into my recipe template. (Yes, I have a Word template for recipes and refuse to print them any other way.) I keep them all saved in a file and I print them out as soon as I type them up and keep them in a 3-ring binder that is my cookbook. I have it all separated with tabs for types of recipes like a regular cookbook too, although each tab is alphabetical which is less like my other cookbooks. If I ever decide I don't like a recipe after trying it the first time, I simply remove it from my cookbook.

Tonight we take my step-daughter out to eat, her pick of restaurant.  I will be having a meatloaf sammy before we leave and a large Margarita for dinner.   :D

Ok...just printed this recipe to put in the old-fashioned paper notebook.

Variations were:

I used one 3 pound pork butt roast -- cheap, tender and what happened to be in my freezer ;)

Used all the left over juices as gravy -- next time I may even increase the sauce ingredients and use a larger roast so we can have encores.

This made enough for three hungry men (one had just returned from 40 mile ride, one a three mile run and the third pulled in from work - just plain hungry) plus me -- thinking it should feed 4-6 regular eaters.

The donuts were made using the recipe from this website: http://freeeatsfood.com/2012/02/06/chocolate-doughnuts-with-butterscotch-glaze-and-salted-almonds/

The glaze was a honey/powdered sugar glaze and then I added a tbsp of cocoa powder to get the chocolate glaze.  The flour I used in the recipe was a new flour I have never used before.. it was given to me by my best friend after she went to Bend, OR. Apparently her friend's roommate started a gluten-free flour company called AKulinary Innovations. It worked really well. It had xanthan gum already in it so I was kinda worried. But it worked out!

Anyone make chicken salad with Greek yogurt instead of evil mayo? Saw a nice recipe on the Chew today but mayo isn't allowed in our home. :)

Are you going to add egg to it? (isn't there egg in mayonnaise?) I've subbed greek yogurt in for sour cream before but never mayo.

I just LOOKED at Jamie's donut picture and my pants split..my zipper expanded and the top button flew across the room and hit Bella in the leg. She jumped up on the table and broke a lamp.

Thanks, Jamie.

I have a 3 ring binder for "gluten-free recipes"--- i.e. baked goods and my old binder which I have had for YEARS which contains everything else.

Plus a bunch of recipe books, magazines and a big ole file folder marked "try these".  ^_^

We have the three ring binder that started the day I went gluten free with the dividers -- Still use an old copy of 'Better Homes "New" Cookbook' for basic "stuff" and of course there is now a laptop on the kitchen counter that didn't live there a few years ago.

I think I have mentioned before, Hubs hates with a passion, mayo. He was happily eating something and saying how yummy it was - until - SIL mentioned the ingredients & 1 was mayo. He immediately stopped eating and said it tasted terrible.

Looks like I could make the chicken salad with Greek yogurt from that recipe. Just want something a little different once in a while.

I am still sitting here wide mouthed after seeing that donut photo.... mmmmmm donut.  One thing I do with recipes is bookmark if I think I may try it someday, hand write it if I am going to actually make it (unless it is really long) and then once I make it and put my notations on it, I have a long running word document that I copy/paste it onto and add my changes, then print them off in a half sheet format.  Blogs do go away sometimes and I try to save anything exceptional because I hate when recipes disappear.

Tonight I am going to make oven breaded chicken breasts with corn and green beans.

I'm pretty sure that in stores, you can find plenty of gluten-free options. But they are usually a bit more expensive.

Hello @BunnyBrown and welcome to the forum. I cannot say that I have had the procedure you describe, but recently I did have general surgery and was routinely intubated.  That pain was what troubled me most after the operation, far more than the operation site.  It took a few days to really settle down, I was quite badly bruised. It was taking so long I was a bit concerned so asked the question on another forum. A few patients came back to me and said they had suffered the same.  I imagine in my own case possibly the throat got bashed about a bit,  maybe they had difficult inserting the tube?  I've suffered with a painful throat post-endoscopy too, but never as long as the intubation pain.   I hope you will be feeling better very soon.   PS BTW - love the name!  I saw this today in an Easter display in a shop and your name reminded me of it.🙂

This wonderful, Anne. I think you have a point about why people disappear off forums.  I found the first few years post diagnosis a real struggle and frankly wondered if I would ever feel better (not to dishearten people, but just to say it can take a while longer for some folk to heal).  However, once my antibodies were back within normal range it really has made a big difference to my health.  I've chosen to stick around because I'm a Mod, otherwise I might have been one of those that disappeared, too!
