Hi, I'm new here.

Yesterday was my first gluten free day and I have to say that I felt exhausted by the end of it - really drained. I'm looking forward to the moment I get used to it and get my energy back.

My GI found lymphocytes in my small intestine so has suggested a gluten free diet and another endoscopy in 6 months. Given my symptoms, I'm sure that he's right about suggesting that it could be a sign of early stages of celiacs.

Anyway, I live in Australia and it's not too hard to be gluten free here - there's loads of products if you look hard enough, and many restaurants now have a gluten free option.

This is an amazing community - I spent quite some time yesterday having a look through the amazing threads. I can't believe how much information there is here. It actually has answered quite a few questions I've been having that doctors haven't seemed to help with.

Just wanted to say hi :D

Hi CathyG,

You are right when you said this is an amazing community. There is so much good information here that you can't seem to get from the medical community, at least where I currently live. Seems like the good ole US is a little behind in looking at Celiac disease as a real "medical" problem. We should have more doctors join and read this site to get the message out. Good luck with your situation.

I've not heard of the DNA test I will definitely look into that. And I did not know that the neuropathy was symptoms of vitamin deficiency. I have been trying to get on a good vitamin regimen. Thank you!

My GI Doctor took blood work and said my Iron levels were actually high. But they took my blood a couple weeks after my infusion so I'm thinking that's why they were showing so high, but they knew I had the infusions. The infusions did help greatly but I am also on an Iron pill that I can instantly notice if I have not taken it for a few days.  Yes, I have read up on that! Thank you so much! I sure that will be fun! Hahaha

@shadycharacter, did you mean to reply to another post about sourdough bread? The present thread isn't about that.

Thanks for your response. It seems to be only with gluten, illness, or vaccination.

Welcome to the forum, @LimpToeTheTimeless Bone growth plates close in the late teens to early twenties, so it's doubtful you'll grow much taller, but you may start to bulk up in muscle.  Remember to boost your absorption of vitamins and minerals needed to build muscle by eating a nutritionally dense diet and supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals, especially Thiamine B1, to counteract the malabsorption caused by Celiac Disease.
