Smokey Bones Restaurant

Hello,

We just had a bad experience at the Smokey Bones Restaurant. We explained our "allergy" to the waitress. However, only later did we realize her lack of understanding and perhaps training in this matter. I ordered a SALAD but declined the grilled chicken due to the marinate. My husband ordered mashed potatoes, steak and steamed broccoli. When my husband's steak arrived it was partially covered with a huge piece of garlic toast! When we stated our inability to eat the dinner due to the garlic toast, the new server took the food back. The very courteous Manager returned and STILL DID NOT KNOW the reason for why we couldn't eat the meal???!!!!!! We explained it to her, she came back to our table to tell us that the mashed potatoes DID HAVE WHEAT IN THEM>Now we already asked the waitress if they were made from scratch and she said, "Yes." Anyway, my husband ended up with a 1.00 discount from his meal of two helpings of steamed broccoli and steak. I won't bore you with the details of my meal.

We won't be returning to any Smokey Bones.

I know how frustrating it can be. We ate at a restaurant called A.J. Spurs on the coast in Grover Beach, California the other day. The kids literally ended up with just a 5 oz steak on their plates, and split a side of baked potato (which was big enogh to feed us all!). They would not give them veggies instead of the salad that came with the meal. I had to pay extra for a side of veggies on my plate with my steak, and they insisted on bringing the plate of gluten contaminated fried potatoes (not a dedicated fryer!) AND plate of garlic bread to the table! I insisted they didn't need to bring it since we couldn't eat any of it, but they brought it anyhow. At least it came on a separate plate! They also brought soup that none of us could eat. I felt bad because they wasted so much food, but the server insisted that it came standard with EVERY meal and every table had to have their soup/fried potatoes/bread...

On another note we had to stop eating at a local restaurant due to the fact that they ALWAYS put the darn cheese bread on every meal no matter what I tell them! We used to spend an average of $200 a month eating there, now we spend that money on gluten-free foods and eat at home! We get a lot more food for the money that way, but a lot more work for mom!

God bless,

Mariann

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
