Is Dh Considered A Fungus Infection?

From what I have been reading about fungus infections - DH seems very simlar. Is it considered more a fungus infection rather than psoriasis?

It is an allergic reaction to gluten. I don't believe there is any evidence for the involvement of any microbial organism.

As itchy said - it's a dermatological reaction to gluten. Specifically, IgA deposits in the skin that cause the rash/itch.

It can be mistaken for a fungal infection.

But that is due to misdiagnosis rather than fungus being the cause.

Mine was treated for fungus many times with no change.

My son had it too and was treated with antifungals...but that was because of mis-diagnoses. We both have DH and avoiding gluten is the only thing that will calm the inflammation.

Another common misdiagnosis is scabies.

There are probably a lot more mistakes, because it takes a long time for most people to get diagnosed with DH.

It is not either an allergic or a fungus reaction. DH is an autoimmune reaction caused by antibody action in the skin.

      Trying to read my lab results

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep...

      Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
