Gliadin Ab, IgA 7.4Hf

REF RANGE for both is (0.0 - 7.0) U/ml

<7.0 = negative

The IgA is equivocal, but the IgG is a strong positive.

Thank you.

Would you mind going into a little more detail about what the results mean for my daughter? I'm sorry I'm having hard time explaining myself here. My only excuse is his is all new to me and I'm a little overwhelmed with all the information I've been reading over the last few days.

What I'd really like to know , is the positive test result pointing toward celiac disease or more toward a gluten intolerance? Do the results warrant further testing? If it matters, my daughter was gluten free for 2 weeks before the test was done. She was having some very painful gastro problems that began to get better within 3 days of removing gluten from her diet, the tremors in her hands have lessened and her breathing has improved.

Normally I take would speak to her Doctor about this but she's has been having these problems for over 5 years and her doctors were never able to pinpoint the problem so I really don't trust that he know's much about celiac disease.

Your daughter's results were positive for celiac disease, even though she had not been eating gluten for two weeks before the test. The IgA was a weak positive, the IgG was strongly positive. Did your doctor not discuss the results with you or schedule an appointment to do so? Or not refer you to a pediatric GI specialist? The GI specialist would normally want to perform an endoscopy with biopsies to confirm the diagnosis, at which time he would recommend a trial of the gluten free diet which you already have her on, or if they came out negative we would certainly recommend a trial of the diet.

Now it is not obligatory to have the biopsy, it is entirely your choice for your daughter. If her gastro, breathing and tremors have all improved on the diet, it certainly seems like gluten is the culprit, and she does have the positive testing for celiac. However, sometimes the endoscopy is useful to check that there is nothing else going on that is causing symptoms.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!

I think sometimes the pain described here can be a result of a sort of 'perfect storm' of contributing factors.  Recently I had an appalling bout of lower back pain, lower burning gut pain and what felt like cramps.  I then started to think about what could have caused it and I realised it was several things that had set it off: I'd been carrying heavy luggage (back strain); I had been sitting down in a car for too long and wearing a tight belt (I have pudendal nerve issues and sacroiliac issues and this exacerbates the pain), and I had bloating and burning pain in my colon caused by eating too much soy, latte and caffeine, I guess putting further pressure in the lower abdomen.  I had this same pain prior to my diagnosis and a couple of years post-diagnosis, I'd quite forgotten how unpleasant it was.

HI @Kirbyqueen That's great news your insurance will be kicking in soon.  Sorry to see that you have been dealing with this for six months now, but I do hope you have managed to find some relief with some of the suggestions in the meantime. Perhaps come back and let us know what the doctor says. Cristiana
