Wanted to share that I recently discovered the Great Value chicken and rice soup at Walmart. It is gluten free, yummy (at least for canned soup), and it is only 50 cents per can.

Anyone else discovered great gluten-free deals at walmart?

Be a little wary of the Great Value items at Walmart. I have called them several times and have been given a similar statement on a couple of occasions that they change vendors regularly and cannot guarantee that what is gluten-free this week will still be gluten-free with the next shipment. Target makes a similar statement about theirs. Walmart has the best prices on canned goods of any place in the Atlanta area. I go there specifically to purchase even my name brand canned items. Now if I could only get out of there without buying anything but those canned goods, I'd be doing well.

Note that the Progresso soups that are gluten-free are only $1.50 a can at Walmart vs $2.49 per can at "that other store down the street". That is a significant savings when you purchase enough for a month at a time.

I'm curious how you even go ahold of them to find out. I was given the name of a lady and told that if I made a list of what I wanted to know was gluten-free she would get back with me. I wrote her several times and never heard a thing back. I gave up on trying to contact anyone from wal-mart.

Our local Wal Mart carries a gluten-free cookie, made in Ireland I believe, sorry - I can't remember the name. They were next to the Newman's Own cookies in the cookie isle. I didn't like them because they had coconut in them, but my mom, who also has celiac, loved 'em. She went back to more ($2.74 a box, raspberry, ginger or lemon) and found the ginger cookies were clearence priced at .75! She bought three more boxes! :)

Found it. Sunstart Bakery (sunstartbakery.com) on their website they have a long list of all the Wal Marts that stock their cookies.
