Well, after more than 30 years without having a glass of beer, I was recently introduced to two gluten free beers. To date, I've had no adverse reaction. One beer's base is honey; the other, sorghum.

The best of the two is Ramapo Valley Beer (honey beer). It is also kosher; the other is Bard's Tale (sorghum based). According to my husband Ramapo is closest to the real thing. Both can be purchased over the internet from their websites. Best way to access is through Google. One of the things I missed most over the years was having a pizza and beer. Now with Amy's Frozen Rice Crust Pizza and either of the two beers, I can enjoy both.

I guess the beer opinion depends on what you like. I found the Ramapo much too sweet and more like hard cider or mead than beer. I liked the Bard's and thought it tasted much more like beer. It had been almost four years for me.

I don't mean this to be sexist, but generally speaking, women seem to like the Ramapo best and men seem to like the Bard's, which has a stronger, more bitter taste.

:) I was finally able to convince my local wine and beer outlet to carry the gluten-free beer. It took some time to convince them, but they finally agreed. Now, I understand, word has gotten out and other celiacs in my area are buying the beer - a win/win situation.

Enjoy!..............Pooka38

MMM... beer :)

I tried the bard's tale this weekend for the first time and it is so tasty! Now I just have to convince a distributor in my state to carry it.
