Caramel Coloring

Hi Everyone,

My son, Chris has joined me for our first joint post. He's nine and wanted to know if Caramel coloring is always out. We've been trying to be gluten free since May and we're still having mistakes here and there. We've avoided Caramel completely but are their some mainstream products that you know of that have caramel color but are gluten-free?

Thanks in advance.

No it is not always bad. In fact, most of the time in the US it is ok. Don't avoid products because of that...you just have to call about it...but 9 out of 10 times it will be gluten free.

The only exception where you do not have to call is when it is a brand, like Kraft, which will not hide anything. That company along with a list of some others will list wheat, rye, barley, oats right on the label if it contains any..they will not hide gluten under otherwise questionable ingredients.

      How will you gauge this?

I have a question I want to try Thiamine supplementation as well due to POTS too but my alkaline phosphatate level is actually high so would that be dangerous?

I ordered some herbal remedies (from a Phyto Therapist) to treat my leaky gut/celiac. Will let the Group know if it has worked in 6 weeks. 🙏

I did wonder this, but can't find very much about it. I can just avoid gluten free bread that looks like it has powder on the top, but if it does that to my lips I am just worried if it's upsetting my tummy too.

Could it be something (some additive or other) they added to the rice flour to make it easier to work with or cook?
