Grandma Ferdon's

While on vacation, I was able to stop at Grandma Ferdon's Gluten Free Store in Hayward Wisconsin. It is a nice little shop with many nice items. I thought the prices were reasonable for gluten free items as most of her mixes makes more than 1 loaf or more than one batch of bisquits. However, nearly all of her ready made items have milk or cream in them. I have decided that most of all of the good breads out there have milk in them and I can't have milk. Anyway, I would recommend her items, however I do believe her shipping costs are high, but then, today, everything is high priced!!

I have ordered from her several times and Jacob seems to enjoy her stuff...Yes the shipping is CRAZY but we usually order frozen stuff so it gets here the next day...I guess I cant complain:)

I would recommend her also.

The shipping really isn't bad IF you live in the upper midwest. I live around an hour away from Hayward, so I usually just drive up there but with gas prices the way they are it's getting to the point where delivery is cheaper. I pay $12.95 for up to 25lbs and get it the very next day, pretty sweet deal. Might I recommend the cinnamon rolls, they are REALLY good.

Bernadette, isn't Julie just a doll? She is so caring.

Yes, Julie is wonderful, very caring. She did inform me that once she gets her feet under her, she has been extremely busy keeping up with store orders, that she will start making some "dairy free" items. She is just not happy with the way things turn out right now using rice milk, I think she wants to try some different things so she can get the best flavor and texture.

I finally know what Grandma Ferdon's is!! I am sitting here eating some Donut Holes  , (Grandma Ferdon's of course!) drinking coffee and reading the Celiac Message Board. How much more could one Celiac ask for??

I found Grandma Ferdon's at The Good Harvest store in Waukesha, Wi. Everything is frozen but still good! The store is only about 1/2 hour from me. I was SO excited to finally go in there! Here all of this time I have been ordering online and paying a bunch in shipping. The store has breads, cereals, snacks, cookies.... and a two door section in the freezer for Grandma Ferdon's. I was so excited to try a brownie!

On a side note:

I am in a wedding tomorrow. We are starting our day at 8:45am getting our hair done. Then to the church where someone is bringing subs from subway. Seeing as there are 10 girls in the wedding, subs would be easiest for the bride. I bought a pizza crust at Good Harvest and am going to bring cold pizza!!! ;) I feel like a whole new world opened for me with this store! I just wanted to share my excitement! :P

Congratulations on your wedding!

Those donut holes are the best aren't they? I could just eat a whole bag. I found Grandma Ferdon's at a store near me, too. They don't carry everything that I like but they carry the bread I like, several desserts, donuts and donut holes, pizza, and of course my beloved cinnamon rolls!

Hi Julie,

Just wondering if a recipe book has been done or is still in the offering.  I really miss the waffles.

Consider buying a new waffle iron and converting your old waffle recipe by substituting with a good gluten free flour blend like Pamela’s or King Arthur that can be purchased from a supplier like Amazon.

No recipe?  This one works:

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!
