Okay, I haven't been on this site in ages. I was very disturbed at a local restaurant. St James Gate has a gluten-free menu and I've eaten there before. However, this time I questioned them about having french fries on their gluten-free menu, knowing that they deep-fry breaded items in their fryer. The waitress said that the gluten gets burned off in the fryer! I said this is not true. I wanted to post this because many international visitors come to Banff and eat at this restaurant. Stay safe in your travels.

Tapioca intolerant
First cousin dx'd with Celiac Disease
Grandmother died of malnutrition b/c everything made her sick... sounds like celiac to me.
Gluten-free since June 2005
Dx with IBS February 2005
Blood tests both negative (or inconclusive?) for celiac (in 2002 and 2004)

That's just sad! It's such a shame that some people are so misinformed about the simplest things related to coeliacs!
Well, at least the place HAD a gluten free menu. The closest gluten-free place is only a 10 minute drive, but they don't understand the concept of "Cross-contamination", so it's not worth it.

Gluten-free since St George's Day this year
